FOUNDERS INTRODUCTION BY CATHERINE DELALOYE
"FVR IS A TRIBE OF STRONG, TALENTED, AND UNSTOPPABLE WOMEN"
My goal has always been to create a safe space for women to be able to help each other grow. There is nothing more important in an artist's journey than the support of a community. Covid-19 has in many ways shattered our daily interactions and, for many, removed us from our communities when community has never been more important. We need a safe space to share stories, a place to dream collectively, to play, and if we can’t do that face-to-face, then virtual it is!
Female Voices Rock is not only a festival but a tribe of strong, talented, and determined women, and it’s able to exist today because of the love, passion, and talent of our incredible volunteers who have come together from all over the world to keep the heart of FVR beating for another year. We are stronger than ever and our community is not only surviving but thriving. It’s not been easy, but nothing great ever is. I’ve always known that women were incredible but this year FVR has shown me that women are truly, truly unstoppable and when we work together ANYTHING is possible.
"THERE IS NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT IN AN ARTIST'S JOURNEY THAN THE SUPPORT OF A COMMUNITY."

ALANA JOHNSON COMEDIAN/WRITER/ACTOR/HIP HOP IMPROVISER
Alana Johnson is a NYC-NJ bred (great! now she’s hungry) comedian, writer, actor, hip hop improviser, and mini-beast. A mini-beast is a vertically challenged fitness fanatic who overcompensates for what she lacks in height through burpees. More self-proclaimed titles could be added, but her opposable thumbs are like “Nah.” She defines herself as Puerto Ridiculous, i.e. half Puerto Rican and half everytime she gets asked, “What are you?,” she has an identity crisis. She grew up humbly on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, and was raised by several doormen, a maid and Zoloft®. She attended Rutgers University on a full-academic scholarship, where she graduated with a B.A. in Economics and Journalism (cum laude, not to brag). Today the multi-hyphenate can be seen performing all over the country (well, pre-COVID) with the all-women identifying hip hop-improv team DMXX and with the ladies of the HERlarious Show, an ensemble variety comedy show. Alongside her creative partner, Jourdan, she is the creator, Executive Producer and star of the comedic web series Two Grown, currently streaming on BET Digital. Alana was a US Finalist in the 2018 ABC Discovers Digital Talent Competition. She is represented by Prevail Artists Management.
