Protection FDM understands that data protection is of utmost importance. As a company that regularly receives sensitive information, we have developed strict data security procedures and work to ISO27001 standards with a fully documented and tested disaster recovery and business continuity plan.


Reducing your costs All our services are in-house which, as a fully authorised and regulated Downstream Access provider, includes the sorting and sending of mail direct to the postman for final mile delivery. By using our own sorting machinery and consolidating output, we can offer significantly improved discounts on the standard postage rates.

Year on year our technical excellence has achieved outstanding results for our councils. FDM were an innovator of matched bills and notifications to reduce output spend and through decisive industry changes like the discontinuation of Royal Mail ‘Walksort,’ we have helped to realise equivalent, if not better postage savings.

Innovative document matching & collation


Document optimisation Today the emphasis is on machinereadable mail for the largest postage discounts. FDM has already passed Royal Mail’s quality assurance accreditation and can help make all your letters meet address and window requirements.

With fantastic products like Data2mail for bulk mailings and Hi-mail, FDM’s hybrid mail solution, overheads like franking machines, printers and post room resources are eliminated from your budget requirement.

We use market leading GMC ‘Inspire’ software that can enhance your billing data, improve layouts, words or values, add barcodes, signatures, translate or output for the visually impaired.


Working with you FDM holds over 40 public sector contracts and frameworks and understands that long-term improvement is a key priority. We work with our customers to investigate ways in which costs of products and services can be minimised and, as part of a typical service agreement, continuous improvement plans are developed to identify cost savings and improvement opportunities.

FDM often advises clients on their output requirements, particularly if there have been organisational changes or print and mail hasn’t been externalised before. Our marked experience has driven smooth transitions to new partnership routines and ensured that joint savings opportunities have not been missed.


Job management Our proven production process is rooted in an innovative, automated workflow system that builds-in project flexibility, security and reliability. Sophisticated Tharstern MIS technology collects complete, real-time data to provide predictable, repeatable, accurate reports which are relied upon by customers to manage budgets, track performance and forecast for future needs.

FDM will provide you with a dedicated Account Manager to assist you with every stage of the process. They will advise on best-fit solutions and develop a project plan at the outset to define key milestones as well as all document and stationery types, setting of fixed and variable texts, proofing requirements and testing and delivery schedules.


Pre-print litho FDM uses the very best print technology to provide the highest quality products, regardless of size or quantity. All our presses are equipped with the right features to accurately reproduce colours and store settings to protect brand integrity.

Laser printing FDM uses the latest high-speed lasers for your personalised data to improve productivity and reduce turnaround time. They provide options of variable spot colour and simple but effective highlighting like <arrears balances> in red to help messages stand out.

Enclosing & finishing FDM operates mailing machines that can handle all the recognised sizes from C4 to C6 and can insert different sized documents multi-directionally. They are laser-controlled, using OMR and barcode technology to accurately match effectively unlimited multiples of pages from different paper stock, then collate and insert in the same envelope.

Our mailing machines are each capable of matching 60,000 collated sheets per hour
