Welcome to the 102nd Family & Children’s Service anniversary celebration; an evening of great food, beautiful music and good friends - all Under a Tuscan Moon. For more than a century, FCS has helped individuals and families who face daunting challenges every day just to survive with the sense of dignity and quality of life that most of us take for granted. Last year alone, FCS assisted more than 18,000 people through intervention services for neglected and exploited adults; home health and respite care for those needing assistance or families seeking a way to care for a loved one at home; and financial management for those with mental and physical challenges. Our Medicare counselors helped seniors navigate the complex Medicare system and FCS deployed hundreds of youth and senior volunteers to dozens of local organizations. And, of course, Operation Sleighbells, the program on which FCS was founded, continued to bring joy to well over 1,000 children in need during the holiday season. FCS remains a life line and a reliable resource, bringing hope, compassion, and peace of mind to those we serve during the most vulnerable times in their lives. The powerful and direct impact FCS has on our community is made possible through the extraordinary support we receive from our donors and volunteers, many of whom have helped create tonight’s event, are here this evening, and support FCS in many ways throughout the year. Tonight we are especially pleased to honor two long-standing volunteers: our dear friends B.J. Thompson and Lee Weber, and The Rumson Country Day School, whose community partnership with FCS has helped sustain us for more than a dozen years. We could not do it without them and we could not do it without you! These are certainly challenging times and your support is needed and appreciated now more than ever. We are deeply grateful, and thank you, our Underwriters, Patrons, Journal advertisers and Auction donors for your outstanding generosity and dedication to the FCS mission.
