Chris Garcia - Community Membe
F. Chris Garcia has been actively involved in his community for his whole life. He wants to make a difference in whatever capacity he can. He served on the Board of Directors at Think New Mexico as well as at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. These organizations have significant impacts on the lives of the members of his community, and for that reason F. Chris Garcia is pleased to work with them.
F. Chris Garcia is a Devoted Public Servant
Former educator and University of New Mexico Professor F. Chris Garcia enjoys staying active in his community and helping others. He has held numerous academic positions and has served on many committees external to the University. These include the Albuquerque Public Schools Educational Futures Long Range Planning Consortium, the City of Albuquerque Good Government Group, and the Citizens Committee at the UNM Site for the Performing Arts Center.
F. Chris Garcia - Teacher and Leader
12 years into his 40-year tenure at the University of New Mexico, F. Chris Garcia was the keynote speaker at the 5th Annual Youth Career Program conference sponsored by Image de Nuevo Mexico. His speech, titled “Progress through Unity and Opportunity,” encouraged students and educators to continue to work together to create new academic opportunities to enhance the education of students. At the time, F. Chris Garcia’s two daughters were just beginning their education, and his work with the local educational bodies such as this helped provide them a better academic future.
F. Chris Garcia - Public Speaker and Teacher
In addition to his work at the University of New Mexico, Distinguished Professor Emeritus F. Chris Garcia has led talks within the Albuquerque community to foster a community of growth and development. He has spoken at the Annual Image de Nuevo Mexico Youth Career Program to encourage children to pursue higher education and professional careers, and has worked with the American Society for Curriculum Development to assist schools in his community to function at their highest capability.
