“Believing in the resurrection does not just mean assenting to a dogma and noting a historical fact. It means participating in this creative act of God’s … Resurrection is not a consoling opium, soothing us with the promise of a better world in the hereafter. It is the energy for a rebirth of this life. The hope doesn’t point to another world. It is focused on the redemption of this one.” --from Jesus Christ for Today’s World, by Jürgen Moltmann

In just a few short days from now, we will gather together among the granite headstones of friends and family who have passed on and we will hear those words of hope that ought to encourage us in all seasons of our lives: “The Lord is risen! He is risen indeed!” We haven’t gotten there yet; there are still a few more days to wait, a few more steps to take, a few more dark nights to pass through. As we continue on this journey towards Easter, towards resurrection, we will have several special opportunities for reflection, fellowship, and worship. Our Holy Week activities will begin with Palm Sunday worship in the Sanctuary on April 9 in the sanctuary at 10:00 A.M. On Tuesday, April 11, we will host a “Holy Week Art Show & Sale” in the CMC. Local artists will be showing and selling their work with a portion of their proceeds going directly to our Easter Offering for Alabama CBF. On Wednesday, April 12, our children’s ministry will host a glow-in-the-dark Easter egg hunt. On Thursday, April 13 at 6:00 P.M. in the sanctuary, we will have our Maundy Thursday Feet-Washing Service. On Friday, April 14 at 6:00 P.M. we will hold our annual service of Tenebrae (A Service of Shadows). Then, on Sunday, April 16 we will gather in the cemetery for our Easter Sunrise Service at 6:30 A.M.; a light breakfast of fruit, pastries, juice, and coffee will be served in the CMC afterwards. We will not meet for Sunday school, but we will gather again for a special service of worship at 10:00 A.M. in the sanctuary. As Holy Week approaches, I also want to remind you of our Prayer Room located just outside of the gym, next to the church office; this room serves as a sacred space set aside for you to pray, reflect, read, or just spend time in the silent presence of God. I look forward to sharing these opportunities of worship and fellowship with you this month and we celebrate the good news of Christ’s resurrection from the dead. Grace and Peace, Chris

WHAT’S HAPPENING AT THE DAYCARE? th

On Thursday, April 13 , we will have our Easter activities. The Easter Parade will begin at 9:30am. Parents and Grandparents, etc. may come for the parade and bring candy and treats to give out to the children as they parade by. The Easter Egg Hunt will follow and then the children will have an Easter party. It is fun to celebrate Easter with all the special activities, but let us remember the real reason we celebrate Easter. Our Saviour died and rose again to save us and love us unconditionally. We are still trying to raise money needed for the playground. Our last fundraiser was having pictures made here at the daycare. Soft Innocence Photography in Jacksonville gave us a 25% commission from the total portraits sold. Our total at this time is $5,701.67. The money is still coming in a little at a time. Thank you for your support for our precious children & families at the daycare. Daycare Staff
