With the National R U OK? Day being in September, there has been a lot of discussion regarding mental health this month. Anyone who has struggled with mental health knows that the best strategy to keep on top of your feelings is to keep some form of a journal. If you think journaling sounds like something only little girls do – you are wrong. Keeping note of what you are feeling and when you are feeling it can help you pinpoint which factors in your life are causing these negative feelings.
A new app, called Realifex from real life experience, does just that! The Realifex app allows users to record their own life experiences and document how each experience has made them feel. The app aims to help users be more aware of their moods and routines. It makes sense to keep a journal on your smartphone as society generally uses technological devices more often than they use pen and paper. There is also no need to worry about who will read your journal as everything on the app is completely private to the user. Alex Prate, founder of Realifex, believes this app is exactly what people need to make themselves more aware of their feelings. “I believe only a small minority of people think deeply and regularly about what could positively influence their life and follow their own path,” says Alex. “For this reason I created Realifex, to help individuals understand their life experiences and emotions with more clarity and hopefully use this information to guide them down the right path for the future.” The app allows users to be more mindful of their own life decisions containing features such as Life Path - which allows users to see trends in their emotions over time - and Life Focus – which allows users to see which aspects of their life is influencing them either positively or negatively. The app allows users to review their recordings and take note of which parts of their life is causing them discomfort. Knowing what aspects are causing negative thoughts and feelings is one step closer to taking action and eliminating those feelings. 38
