YOUTH ACTIVITIES SUMMER 2018 The Farmington Country Club Youth Activities Program provides children the foundation to become conscientious and responsible through activities that demonstrate an awareness of our environment and the people around us.

WELCOME

Summer is right around the corner and the Club is busy preparing for another exciting season of junior programming. Whether it’s swimming, activities in the Children’s Place, summer camps, golf or tennis, there is something that is sure to delight every young member! The weekly summer camp programs, led by our camp counselors, offer a wide range of activities for children ages 4 – 12. Depending on the camp your child is participating in, weekly activities include rotations in tennis, golf, swimming, camp games and crafts. The athletic activities are designed to offer your child a basic introduction to the individual sports and to spark their interest! This summer we will be offering three camps: Mini Camp for children 4 – 5 years old, Sports Camp for children 6 - 8 years old and Adventure Camp for children 9 – 12 years old. All three camps will include swimming, tennis, snack time and lunch. Sports Camp and Adventure Camp will also include golf lessons. Spaces are available on a weekly basis or a daily drop in. More information about all of Farmington’s summer programming can be found throughout this brochure. We look forward to a fun and safe summer!

AQUATICS

The Farmington Frogs Swim Team is a summer aquatics program for children ages 5 – 18. Daily practices can strengthen your child’s swimming skills when they join the Frogs. Our goal is to teach your child the value of being part of a team, practicing good sportsmanship, having fun and making lifelong friendships. The entire coaching staff is very excited for 2018. As one of the Club’s rich traditions, the FCC Frogs Swim Team is truly a family affair. Your child’s participation requires you or their guardian to assist with necessary volunteer tasks during the season. Working during Wednesday night meets is the priority. Visit the Jefferson Swim League website jsl.org for detailed information about the opportunities and roles required of parents. If your family is interested in joining the Frogs Swim Team, we encourage you to attend the Swim Team Kickoff event on Sunday, April 29 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. This is the best opportunity to meet the coaches, answer any questions that you might have, determine whether your child is ready for swim team and sign up for volunteer positions or training. Registration forms are available at farmingtoncc.com or in the Fitness Center. Completed forms can be dropped off at the Fitness Center or e-mailed to Coach Pat at pbateman@fccva.com. We are looking forward to our 2018 summer at the pool!

Monday – Friday, May 7 – May 11 4:30 – 5:15 p.m. Ages 5 – 10 | Complimentary During this orientation, children will be placed into small groups to learn pool safety, rules and Club policies. Five sessions are available and children will have the opportunity to take the LPST Swim Test. Please register online at farmingotoncc.com.

LAP POOL SWIM TEST (LPST) Children 10 years and under will be required to pass the LPST in order to be in the pool without an adult or caregiver. Those children who have passed the test will be placed on the qualified swimmers list and are required to wear a provided wrist band while in the pool area. The LPST will require the child to swim one full length of the lap pool without a flotation device or assistance (including pushing off the bottom of the pool or hanging and/or pulling on the lane lines) and exit the side of the pool unassisted. Children who are on the Frogs Swim Team and can complete a length of the pool without assistance will automatically be placed on the qualified swimmers list.
