Grassland & Muck
It starts with the mix Delivering a proven return on investment from quality mixtures will be the hot topic on the Wynnstay stand. Grass and roots product manager Rachel Jones says: “Reseeding is cost-effective but, to get the most from this investment, it’s essential to use the best-quality seed mixtures available.” The Wynnstay range of grass mixes includes varieties from the Recommended Grass and Clover Lists for England and Wales, and contains some of the highest-quality ryegrass varieties in the market. “Our independence means that we’re able to capitalise on different
breeders’ strengths, carefully studying the trials information provided from the Recommended List. This ensures our mixtures consist of varieties with the highest yield, nutritional and agronomic characteristics,” says Rachel. “Our approach is fairly simple. If we use the best-possible varieties in the market, we’re able to supply the best grass seed mixtures.” Having selected the mixture, it’s then essential to have a bespoke fertiliser and agronomy plan to maximise forage potential, she adds. “Grassland requirements differ from farm to farm, so it’s important to discuss options with a specialist.”
Wynnstay recommends a bespoke fertiliser and agronomy plan.
At Grassland and Muck there’ll be an opportunity to book a session with Wynnstay’s forage seed specialists for a one-to-one discussion about grassland needs from seed selection to fertiliser applications. Bookings can be made online, or on a sign-up sheet on the stand at the event itself. There’ll also be the opportunity to discuss grassland management techniques and how to get the most from leys with the team of Wynnstay arable specialists.
Given the emphasis Wynnstay places on effective grassland management in providing return on investment, it’s giving visitors to its stand the opportunity to win a grass plate meter worth £460. It will also be running a social media competition during the event where entrants can win a voucher worth £250 to spend on mixtures from its standard grass seed range. ■ Stand 446.
Bag your forage storage Devon-based AB Systems operates a nationwide contracting service for AgBag, its innovative agricultural and
environmental storage solution. Invented in the UK, AgBags are large bags used primarily to store all forms of forage and feed on farm. The exterior white layer of AgBag’s 3-ply construction reflects solar heat, keeping the bag and its contents cooler, while the black inner lining AB Systems operates a nationwide contracting service for AgBag.
keeps out sunlight and preserves valuable nutrients, says AB Systems. With UV inhibitors to resist sun damage, each AgBag is made to last two years in tough weather conditions, although contents can still be intact for up to seven years, it adds. The company runs the only 4.3m AgBagger in Europe, so that its customers can bag
more tonnage per metre. Since 2016 the AgBag storage system has included silage clamp sheet. Only 90 micron thick, it has a built-in oxygen barrier and is made from seven layers that don’t separate. It’s said to be stronger, lighter and more flexible than conventional silage film. Stand 621.
