‘Tidy collection’ at Wiltshire farm sale t The sale at Dean Hill Barn Farm, East Dean, Salisbury was due to a change in farming policy and included excellent machinery.
p A Honda TRX350FW 4wd ATV registered on an ’02-plate’ and in very tidy condition made £3,025. It had worked approximately 1,570hrs.
A dispersal sale at Dean Hill Barn Farm, near Salisbury in late May included modern farm implements and machinery. Organised by Southern Counties Auctioneers, the sale was due to the retirement of farmer Peter Holt, and a change in farming policy including the use of contractors. There were a few ‘Included lots’ but most came from the 300ha (750-acre) farm and the auctioneers described equipment on offer as, ‘one of the tidiest collections offered in the area in recent years.’ Auctioneer Simon Whaley was very pleased with the attendance. Approximately 250 registered buyers were encouraged by warm,
sunny early summer weather and he commented that “marvellous trade” on the day meant many prospective buyers who had travelled from the length and breadth of the country, including the Irish Republic, went home empty-handed as prices achieved were well in excess of the auctioneers’ and vendors’ expectations. t This Hardi 12m ATV sprayer was on a chassis made locally by Duffield All Terrain in the early 1990s. With 3-section boom control the sprayer was powered by a Honda 5hp petrol engine, and mounted on low ground pressure tyres. The winning bidder paid £2,000
p Tractor-mounted cement mixers are always popular at farm sales and this Pierce example appeared in good order and attracted a winning bid of £260.
p Knight cultivation equipment is often in strong demand when it comes up for sale and this 2004 Triple Press 7005 with 3.3m working width, in very good condition and with plenty of working life remaining in the rollers, made £3,975. u Also in very good condition was this Kuhn Axera-M 1102 twin-disc fertiliser spreader which was new in 2004 but appeared much more recent. Hopper capacity was 1,500kg with the extensions fitted and the winning bid was £2,000.
u Good quality rolls attract fierce bidding competition as demand has increased in recent years. This Dal-Bo 1230 set ticked all the boxes with its compact design, modern reliable folding system and ease of movement between fields. New in 2011, the rolls had a 12.3m working width and were in very good condition. They sold for £12,225. 08R28B
