At more than 530,000 acres, the W.T. Waggoner Ranch in North Central Texas is not a

The Waggoner, co-listed by Bernie Uechtritz, advisor to Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s Farm and Ranch Division, is the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, having been kept under one fence by one family for nearly 100 years. I pulled up on one of the hills, parked my jeep facing the setting sun. I stood on top of the jeep and looked back across the river. I decided then I could build a house on that spot. I did, and to this day, I find quiet peace and tranquility enjoying that setting sun from my back veranda. It took me two years to clear the trees and brush, clean out
