The Great Barrier Reef is one of the natural wonders of the world- and the perfect place for any nature loving family to take a vacation. Stretching for over 2000 kilometres, it is one of Planet Earth’s most impressive natural structures and fulfils a vital role in our fragile ecosystem. There are many beautiful locations which are perfect for a family holiday along the reef, but perhaps our favourite is Lizard Island. Some of Queensland’s most respected diving schools are located here and family discounts are often available on enquiry. Do bear in mind that the equipment you need is often cheaper to rent in Brisbane or other large towns if you happen to be travelling. Best Holiday Destination | Vacation To Australia

How Much You Should Tip

The Sunshine Coast Perhaps slightly less popular than the better known Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast is nonetheless the number one destination for many families visiting Queensland. It offers a combination of stunning scenery, incredible wildlife, faultless beaches and world class attractions. For adults there is the romance of some of Australia’s best wineries and most lauded restaurants. For the kids there is the excitement of the Aussie World theme park and the internationally renowned, Australia Zoo. Daintree Rainforest If being home to the Great Barrier Reef is not enough, large areas of Queensland are also covered in lush ancient rainforest. Children will love the sheer size of trees which seem to reach up to the sky and the large colonies of giant fruit bats which hang upside down in the trees are sure to fire the imagination. A great way to learn more about the rainforest is to visit one of the world class visitor centres which punctuate Queensland’s forests- and there is none better than the Daintree Discovery Centre. Not only can you learn about the unusual wildlife, such as the blue-headed Cassowary, but thrill seekers can take the aerial walkway built high amongst the tree tops. Cairns Cairns, the largest town in Far North Queensland, is not only a great base from which to start your exploration but also a great family destination in its own right. For culture vulture’s there are several art galleries and museums, including the brilliant Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park. Cairns offers a fantastic choice of reasonably priced hotels and some of the best self-catering apartments which there are to rent in Queensland.
