Earthquake Aftermath in Japan The concept behind this townhouse design is “Earthquake Aftermath in Japan. Earthquakes occur multiple times in Japan so this modern Japanese style house incorporate the feel of an apocalypse. The original floorplan of the house will be drastically shifted and twisted from its original orientation. Interior walls would be broken up in pieces with large gaps in between. Guests would feel a bit disoriented as they enter the house because of how all the walls go diagonally into the perimeter walls.

DISTRICT URBAN SKATESHOP The design concept of this skate shop is going to emulate the feeling of a skate park and skate spots that the skaters have created for themselves in abandoned empty spots in the city. The key in this design to de-clutter as much as possible opposed to typical board shops such as Tilly’s and PacSun and to display more high end merchandise. In the store there are half and quarter pipes, skate boxes, stairs with worn down rails and ramps; all the elements that can be found at skate parks and spots to get the feel of an actual skate park and skate spot.

The goal for the design of the District headquarters is for employees to come to office feeling free and independant like skateboarders and not be confined in a their cubicle all day long. The environment of the office will evoke a feeling that people are in an actual skate park or spot: skater’s paradise. It will have a gritty rebellious look to it.

MINAMOTO KICHOAN Japanese sweets Japanese Sweets also known as Minamoto Kitchoan is located right on Market St, on the edge of the financial district in downtown San Francisco. The proposal for this retail store is to redesign it to increase customer activity and sales. The concept is to have a place for tourists and people who work in downtown to have a get-a-way from the fast paced life in the city. In order to keep customers in the store a bit longer, seats and tables to drink tea and sweets sampling would be integrated with the sales area. Customers would be able to sit at the counter and right in front of them choose what they would like to try. Every sides of the space would be used to improve on circulation. The store would be more modernized and fresh to attract all types of customers.

Custom Built Furniture The concept behind the design of the custom built coffee table is to bring nature and serenity into an urban dwelling. Plants and aquatic life will be incorporated to bring liveliness to the urban environment. This piece is made out of maple wood with walnut wood inlay that wraps around the opening with the piece of polished glass. A removable fish tank is held by wooden brackets and slightly oversized to have a seamless look when view from above the table. The small opening on the side of the table can be used to place tall plants.

180 New montgomery library The design concept of the library is based on leaves of trees. The roof top is like the leaves on top of the trees. It attracts students and staff to come to the top of the library like how the tree leaves absorbs the sun rays and water for energy. The library is all about harvesting sunrays to keep the library functioning by using it’s own resources. Open access for students and faculty to the rooftop garden will assist in relieving of feeling clustered or overwhelmed by crowded-ness of the city. The curved glass of the atrium maximizes natural lighting for the interiors of the library.
