Family Service Association
s r o b h g nei
96,000 Real People who made Real Change in 2014 in marvelous, measurable ways.
Annual Report 2014
Their lives were transformed, motivated and redirected by Family Service.
Family Service’s SOLUTION-ORIENTED RESPONSIVENESS MADE MIRACLES LIKE THESE HAPPEN EVERY DAY IN 2014. 5000
Teens are developing strong, positive relationships with other kids, performing acts of kindness in our community and aiming for higher education. Soon they’ll be college or career-bound and will spread their enthusiasm and knowledge to make our world a better place for all.
Parents in 50+ schools are uniting in common cause — to support their children’s education and volunteer to improve their neighborhood schools. Empowered by Family Service, these parents are forging meaningful relationships and changing their children’s trajectory for success, determined to end the cycle of poverty.
Parents of 300 children are mastering the art of positive parenting with guidance from our professional staff. That translates to 95% likelihood of prevented child abuse; reduced risk of criminal behavior associated with child abuse and neglect; and more than $1 million saved in the cost of juvenile detention and Child Protective Services intervention.
Pre-schoolers are discovering the joy of learning. Someday, they’ll be teachers, business executives, military leaders, elected officials.
Youth are connecting with 100 local employers in summer jobs to boost their career readiness and build a smarter workplace. Because of this, over the past 5 years, more than 1,000 young people have discovered their talents, advanced their skills and are preparing for lives of success, reducing the unemployment rate and decreasing the public costs of social service reliance.
Seniors are receiving the services and care they need to help them remain independent and in their own homes. Thus saving $3 million every year in private and Medicaid-funded nursing home care.
Community partnerships are enhancing services for the underserved. See the names of these responsive heroes on our 2014 Donors/Investors/Partners list. These creative, impactful collaborations are strengthening community bonds, attracting employers, increasing employment opportunities and training our workforce.
Individuals are on a healthy new path, thanks to counseling from professionals who listen, guide and redirect — offering real solutions that work. Over the years, 70,000 clients have entrusted their stories to Family Service counselors and found new hope, purpose and positive attitudes. Good mental health strengthens the entire fabric of society.
Real People have found Real Change since 2007 at The Neighborhood Place. Children are safer; families are physically/ emotionally/mentally/ financially healthier; youth are inspired by technology and motivated to succeed. In the heart of the west side, thanks to Family Service and dozens of partners, life is measurably, remarkably better.
