Children’s Theatre

We aim to be as accurate as possible, but these listings are compiled several weeks beforehand and may be subject to change. Please check before setting out.

For all of August, a child aged 16 or under can go to any participating show for free where tickets are available as long as they’re with a a full paying adult. Adults can buy up to two extra children’s tickets then at half price and there are no added booking fees. Kids Week is a great way of encouraging families to get into the habit of going to the theatre. The fantastic promotion includes a wide variety of London musicals, plays, comedies and children’s shows to choose from.

Mon 8 Jul—King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table A haunting and evocative performance weaving together the many legends surrounding King Arthur, the noble ruler of Camelot. Ages 6+. Thu 15 Aug—Mr and Mrs Hake and the Magic Princess Fish Based on the Grimm Brothers’ The Fisherman and his Wife, Mini Operas have reinvented the beloved fairytale with the aims of introducing opera to the very young. Ages 3+.

To Sat 13 Jul—Suffrajitsu The story of one young girl and how she learns that being small doesn’t mean you can’t change the world. Suffrajitsu shows you that you too can change the world, no matter who you are. Ages 7–11 To Sun 4 Aug—The Slightly Annoying Elephant What’s big, blue, bossy, and turns up uninvited? A slightly annoying elephant, of course! This hilarious story by David Walliams is brought to life through puppetry. Ages 3–8. Fri 5 Jul to Sun 11 Aug—Little Angel by the Sea Sand play, puppet making and a whodunit mystery! Ages 3–8.

Mon 15 & Tue 16 Jul—Mad Hatter The Musical Discover the untold story of Franklin Magellan as he makes his way to Wonderland, becoming the famous “Mad Hatter.” Ages 6+. Sat 20 Jul to Sun 1 Sep—The Scarecrows’ Wedding Heart-warming and award-winning adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s bestselling book is bursting at the seams with Scamp Theatre’s inimitable style. Thu 18 Jul to Sun 1 Sep—Dinosaur World Live Amazing interactive children’s theatre bringing dinosaurs to life on stage. Each performance is followed by a post-show meet and greet where audience members have the opportunity to meet the dinosaurs up close and in person. From £14. Ages 3+.

To 4 Aug—Aesop’s Fables (aged 8–12) and Aesop’s Fables (aged 4–7) As far as we know, Aesop was a slave and storyteller who lived in ancient Greece between 620 and 564 BC. We still have over 725 of his stories. The Unicorn have asked a few of their favourite writers to select one fable and to re-tell it for today’s audience, presenting two versions of the results: one for ages 4–7 and one for ages 8–12.
