Jisoo Leads the Blackpink Takeover of Paris Fashion Week with an Appearance at Dior

Over the past year or so, K-Pop stars have slow ly crept into the global fashion scene, becoming some of the go-to muses for major brands. And now, as we head to Paris for the spring/summer 2022 shows, all eyes are on the girls of Blackpink, who will be tak ing their rightful place front and center as four major French houses, each with their own individual relation ship with the members, show off their collections.

First up is Jisoo, who attended the Dior show on Tuesday in a black-and-white embroidered mini dress from the Dior Resort 2022 collection and a small nude Lady Dior bag. Though Jisoo has been working with Dior since 2019, this is her first time attending a show in person as a result of the pandemic (though she did vir tually attend Dior Cruise in June). Starting as a local ambassador for Dior Beauty, Jisoo quickly moved up the ranks to be named a Dior Muse. Last summer, the singer starred in a campaign for the brand’s Bobby bag and in March 2021, she was named an offi cial ambassador. “Jisoo embodies, with her singular audacity, the house’s modernity and the passionate creativity of Maria Grazia [Chiuri], who was inspired by the Korean singer for her autumn/ winter 2021 collection,” Dior said in a statement about the ap pointment.

Vivienne Westwood Fall ’92 Channeled Marlene Dietrich at Her Chicest

Vivienne Westwood’s fall 1992 runway was filled with fashion mus es prancing down the runway, cosplaying as fully animated carica tures of old Hollywood stars. Inside a Paris museum hallway covered in red curtains, the show, titled “Always on Camera,” featured a female air pilot wearing a silver metallic cap and draped trousers, a silver screen starlet in the now-infamous Frans Hals lace-trimmed babyface corset, and mock daytime TV doyennes donning severely tailored suits in pink leopard print with matching, massive, heart-shaped bags. “ The inspiration for the show was, clearly, Marlene Dietrich, and the Hol lywood, silver-screen era,” Andreas Kronthaler, Vivienne Westwood’s creative partner and husband of decades who co-designed the collec tion, tells W. “She is one of the most outstanding movie actresses in terms of the image she created for herself—very much so with the help of her director in the beginning, Josef von Sternberg, who pushed her appearance to an extreme. I don’t think we have ever seen something like that since.”

A look from Vivienne Westwood’s “Always on Camera” collection, 1992. “There was a lot of denim in this collection where we etched Marlene Dietrich’s face onto the mate rial and cut up garments—eyes on the bum pock et, lips on the crotch. We played with her image, made layers, cut up jean jackets and skirts,” says Kronthaler. Hand knitted pieces were printed with glitter lace and topped off with padding around the chest and shoulders for an extreme silhouette.

Of course, Dietrich was known for her androg ynous style and penchant for suits. “Another important part of the collection is suiting, which was made in very special estate tweed—we had it woven in Scotland—and we made these exagger ated men’s suits,” Kronthaler says. “Of course, the great thing about it all was the proportion, which was achieved through elevated platforms which lifted the girls up to an extreme height. They were 22 centimeters higher than they were supposed to be, wearing heels hidden under these elongated Marlene Dietrich trousers.”

Blackpink Jennie Stole the Show in Chanel Front Row

As Paris Fashion Week’s hottest ticket, Chanel never fails to bring out the stars. Just as founder Coco filled her salons with a who’s who of European high society, her namesake brand pop ulates its front row with an international roster of ambassadors who represent the best of art and en tertainment. Virginie Viard’s fall 2022’s collection debuted to a packed house, but one guest stood out from the rest: South Korean singer Jennie, 1/4th of the K-Pop girl group Blackpink.

The show’s scene-stealer, Jennie enjoyed her time in the front row from the moment she arrived at the Grand Palais Éphémère in a gamine look from Viard’s pre-fall runway. Despite the attention from paparazzi and the fans camped out to catch a glimpse of her, she focused on fashion. “Coming to Chanel is the best [and] it’s always great to see a new collection,” she says. “Each one gives me dif ferent insights and inspirations but this show was purely amazing!”

A Chanel ambassador since 2017, Jennie is fa miliar with the house’s signatures, and Viard’s use of the brand’s iconic textiles struck a chord this season. “What captivated me was the focus was on tweed,” she explains. “All the looks were over-thetop sophistication, but my favorites were tweed looks with delicate details and colors.” Pieces like the intricately woven pastel coat worn by show opener Vivienne Rohner and the strapless cock tail-length checked gown on model Fran Summers were impossible to ignore. Still, Jennie was equal ly impressed by how the material transformed the set-pieces inside the Grand Palais. “Even the venue itself was decorated with tweed,” she says. “It was quite remarkable.”

Having worn multiple variations of Chanel’s lit tle black jackets and classic suits, Jennie wanted to try something different for Tuesday’s show. Settling on an embroidered velvet blouson and matching skirt from Viard’s pre-fall collection worn with diamond and 18k gold Coco crush rings, she looked the part of designer muse. Still, the star’s trip wasn’t solely about fashion week. Like many, Jennie finds people-watching the best part of the

LISA FROM BLACKPINK

touched down in Paris for Celine

Menswear SS23

The month in menswear spring summer shows ended on a high. How could it not when a member of BLACK PINK is involved? The mem ber in question was rapper Lisa, who made a hotly antic ipated appearance at Celine on the final day of Men’s Par is Fashion Week. Lisa stepped out in Paris, arm in arm with V from K-pop group BTS and actor and singer Park Bogum who were invited as guests of the House.

Her hair was a notable medi um length icy blonde for the occasion, with her signature fringe in tact. She wore a back less black sequin Celine hal terneck with tailored shorts, a thin black belt and a dark Ce line Triomphe bag with gold hardware to round the look out. Of course, Lisa built hype around her arrival in Paris a day before the show via so cial media. On Instagram she treated fans to a sneak preview of her journey,

Considering that Lisa walked the last two Celine runways, it’s a nice change of pace to see her lapping up the front row alongside her industry friends instead. Now that Men’s Fash ion Week has wrapped up, it’s time to take a look at the month was. In Milan, Silvia Venturini Fendi did California Dreamin’ the Italian way for Feni and at Prada Raf Simons and Ms. Prada celebrated the fundamentals of dress. And as the month progressed.

BLACKPINK’s Rosé Stole the Show at Saint Laurent During Paris Fashion Week

BLACKPINK’s Rosé continues her total fashion domination. Just a few weeks after she made her historic debut at the 2021 Met Gala, she popped up in Paris to support her friends at Saint Laurent for their Spring/Summer 2022 show, which took place at the Eiffel Tower. As noted by W, Rosé, who is a global brand ambassador for Saint Laurent, attended the event in an extremely chic LBD. She wore a sheer black chiffon minidress with silk trim over a pair of black hot pants; the thigh-skimming dress dangled from barely-there spaghetti straps. Rosé paired the daring-yet-romantic dress with a pair of super sheer black tights, classic black kneehigh boots, and a gold chain choker studded with pearls.

W notes that Rosé has been working with the brand since 2020, and she’s become good friends with its creative di rector Anthony Vaccarello. “She is Saint Laurent in the way she lives, in the way she takes charge of how she dresses, in her way of liberating herself from the crowd,” he told W about the musician. “She’s someone who rep resents today’s society.”

Rosé and Vaccarello appeared together on the Met Gala carpet earlier in September, with Rosé wearing an ‘80s-in spired black minidress with a big white bow. Rosé is not the only member of BLACKPINK to appear at Paris Fashion Week to support her favorite brands. Her bandmates Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo have also done so in the present and past, as they are all paired up with some of the most famous French luxury fashion brands. Jennie works with Chanel and has posed for their campaigns, while Lisa has partnered with Celine. Jisoo works with Dior as their global brand ambassador and recently at tended their Paris Fashion Week show in a Roman-in spired embroidered black and white minidress.

Hadid asked 10 different cre atives to make art out of 3D scans of her own body, including portraits where she’s done up like an animated cyborg queen. She’s had a waiting list open for weeks, with over half a million people signing up online, and finally, now that CY-B3LLA is dropping, they’ll be able to get their own slice of supermodel right in their own inbox. Hadid first had a kernel of the idea thanks to a lifelong interestin gaming. Growing up, her young er brother Anwar loved World of Warcraft, but Hadid herself was always attracted to the poppy universe of Mario. “My alias when I was 18, when I started traveling for work, was Princess Peach,” she says with glee over Zoom. When the world locked down due to COVID, her fascination with online life went into overdrive. “Over quarantine, my dream was to be a full gamer
