As the days get longer and the temperature starts to rise, there is a general sense of excitement growing among our kids and ourselves. Another school year is coming to an end and summer is fast approaching. But before you all kick off your shoes and take that well needed and well deserved break from those 3R’s, please remember that your school year does not officially end until all semester evaluations and attendance records are completed and received by Fairhaven. Semester evaluations and attendance records are mandatory forms required to be maintained by the school for state requirements but we want to encourage you to look at this process not just as a mandated chore but as a time of celebration and a time of remembrance. Use this process to see where the children have been...where they are today...and where they are headed. You can download forms for both elementary and junior/senior high school at our website, www. fairhavenca.com, or copy them from the Fairhaven Parent Handbook. If you have any questions or confusion about how to complete your evaluations, please do not hesitate to contact Ruth Markham 818- 434-7533 or 818-353-2632. We have all had questions about how to evaluate the progress of our children.

Summer is almost here! Yeah! No more school work, trips to the beach and those much needed vacations will soon be upon us. However, so will next year. As you have fun this summer and take your break please keep next years classes in mind. A planning meeting will take place in August to help get our fall classes in order. If you are planning on attending Campus Day, and we hope that you are, you are required to be at this meeting!
“ANY GOD WHO WOULD SUPPLY LINED PAPER TO OUR CHILDREN, CAN BE MY GOD”
Recently a story was shared with some of us about a tribe in Zimbabwe who would not allow anyone to come and teach about God. However, after some time Operation Christmas Child was eventually allowed in. A lesson was shared with everyone present about the greatest gift of all, Jesus Christ. When the lesson was over the children began opening their shoe boxes and as they did, the adults who had been sitting around the edge of the room, started to draw near. OCC staff noticed the parents and children were both getting excited and crying. Finally the Chief came to one of the staff and said, “You gave them lined paper! Do you know how expensive lined paper is? We can’t afford lined paper here. Any God who would supply lined paper to our children, can be my God.”
If you have any questions or already have a class idea, please feel free to call Ruth Markham. A tentative date of August 15th is being planned for our meeting, however please check your e-mail and the following newsletter for possible changes.
A simple gift of lined paper, which seems to us like nothing, meant so much and showed how our God will supply all of our needs. Through Operation Christmas Child He can use each one of us to reach people we may never know and bring the message of Christ to them. Join us this fall to make this our biggest “Wrap Party” ever! We can’t do it without your help and although the summer is coming quickly please keep Operation Christmas Child in your prayers. As you’re doing your day-to-day shopping grab a few extras for those in need. God knows what’s needed so let Him guide you. Be sure to remember to save those shoe boxes and pray for those who will be receiving them.
