Edward Brown is a military spouse originally from Atlanta, Georgia and moved to Alaska in November of 2021. Edward decided to continue his education and attend UAF majoring in music education with a focus on the voice under the guidance of Dr. Jaunelle Celaire. Studying at UAF has introduced him to a vast variety of classical music, Alaskan culture, and the opportunity to become a well-rounded music educator.
Ellie "Paukana" Martinson is an Inupiaq Alaska Native from Nome, Alaska and has been cast as the role of 'Mabel'. She is a recent graduate from UAF studying under Dr. Celaire and is planning on going to graduate school next fall. Ellie enjoys baking, reading, and spending time with her two dogs in her spare time.
The Pirate King
Flyn Ludington attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City and is an Adjunct Professor of Theater and Film at UAF. Flyn was in FST’s production of King Lear, Alison Bechdel in Fun Home, and Cathy in The Last Five Years, both produced by IIT as well as the Beggar Woman in FLOT’s production of Sweeney Todd. Flyn is also a single parent to two beautiful kids!
Meghan Illguth believes in making dreams a reality, a sentiment she lives out by performing alongside her whole family in this show. She homeschools her children and owns a self-defense business while managing productions for the FSAF. Notable roles include Principal Trunchbull in FACT’s production of Matilda and Sabot in FDA’s production of Rope.
Excited to add The Modern Major General to the list of opportunities Fairbanks has presented in the last 17 years, from Sweeney Todd to Music Man to Jean Valjean in Les Miserables to John Adam’s in 1776 and recently Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof. Sylvain is also grateful for the work with Opera Fairbanks, ITT and the FSO.





Jonathan Lange is pleased to return to the stage with FLOT after some time away. His first performance was with FLOT in 2004, and he has since participated in shows with Opera Fairbanks, Lathrop High School, and UAF. He hopes you enjoy this fantastic rendition of Pirates of Penzance!
John Lee is excited for his return to the stage with FLOT. He has recently performed in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels as Andre and Fiddler on the Roof as Motel. John's much smaller stage is teaching 6th and 7th grade social studies at North Pole Middle School.
Talia Wood was born and raised here in Fairbanks, AK. Although she did some shows growing up, her favorites were Lathrop’s The Wizard of Oz (2018) and Newsies (2019). She is very excited to be back on the stage, this time as Edith, in FLOT’s rendition of Pirates of Penzance!
Timberlyn has been doing musical theater since she was eight years old. She’s performed with FLOT, and more recently with the Lathrop High School music department. She’s excited to continue her future in music and learn more about the arts! She is currently a student of Dr. Kirsten Blair.
Nora Sterner is a junior with previous experience starring in Annie for North Pole High School. She has been in choir for many years and is studying opera with her voice teacher Jessica Wardle and loving it!!





Moth Guzman is a senior in high school, with previous experience in many choirs and in North Pole High School's production of Annie. They are a sorority sister in this production of Pirates of Penzance. They have loved putting this show together and they really hope you enjoy it!
Illyana Illguth is a skilled black belt in Tang Soo Do, and loves to travel! Above all, she treasures her family and is overjoyed to share this show with them. Her most recent appearances include an Oompa Loompa in FACT’s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Bianca in FACT's The Lightening Thief.
Christa has been involved with FLOT since the spring of 2023, debuting in The Fiddler on the Roof. She grew up immersed in music with her family, and is enjoying being involved in theater. She is currently attending UAF and plays viola in the chamber orchestra.
Cynthia is 18 years old and is attending UAF for an associates degree majoring in psychology. She has been casted in two other musicals in high school, by the MTC production.
This is Eugene's second time in a FLOT production, with his first being Fiddler on the Roof" During this summer his play Last Breath of Summer was read at the 2024 Valdez Theatre Conferece. Enjoy the show!





Isabella DeMattio is playing a tourist and a Boardwalk Patrolman. This is her first on stage production and she is exited to be playing a role in the Pirates of Penzance.
Lucas is a civil engineering student who is thrilled to join the cast of Pirates in his first time singing onstage. Lucas has loved and played music since childhood and spent years performing with local steel drum band Cold Steel.
Corin Illguth—the human embodiment the 100% emoji! Likes playing generally any sport, and wouldn’t mind if you came up and talked to him after the show. He was most recently Willy Wonka in FACT’s production of “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.”
Maeve Propsom is thrilled to take on the roles of Boardwalk Patrolman and a tourist in Pirates of Penzance. A seasoned performer, Maeve has appeared in FACT productions and North Pole High School shows. When not patrolling the boards or getting lured by pirates, Maeve enjoys reading and writing. She thanks her family for their unwavering support.
This is the fifth time Chris has performed in a live theatre production, the second of which being a FLOT production. Due to his passion for the performing arts, in order to prepare for his role, Chris arrested four people, despite not being a police officer. (For legal reasons: That is a joke.) Chris plans to continue taking part in community theatre for a long time to come. #Tarantara




Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, John DiCandeloro moved to Fairbanks in 2021. He has appeared in local theater productions King Lear and Romeo & Juliet with FST, Native Gardens with FDA, and Rocky Horror at the Basement. This is his first musical production as an adult.
Jivan Gordon-Wolfe is active in our local theater community, having appeared in productions with FLOT, FDA and FST. He has worked as an assistant teacher in summer camps with both FST and FDA. When not performing in a production, he spends his time training and teaching martial arts were he has achieved the rank of 4th Degree Black Belt in TKD, as well as, working on and assisting with training actors in the art and skill of stage fighting.
Shery Elterman is a longtime lover of the arts in Fairbanks. You may have seen her in the Aurora Borealis Choir or in FLOT’s production of Tony ’n Tina’s Wedding as Grandma Nunzio. Sherry is eager to showcase her talent and courage alongside her cherished family and the students of Barnette Magnet School. When she’s not nurturing young minds or honing her artistry on stage, you can find her adventuring in Alaska with her husband and two boys, berry picking, camping, ATVing, making jam, or embracing the serenity of yoga.
Melody has been in several productions over the years. She is currently playing the role of a pirate and is studying for a career in theater.




Sonja Illguth is a talented artist and homeschooled introvert who loves to participate in her church youth group and adores her black cat, Wednesday. She's thrilled to be part of the show and share her creativity!

Paul Illguth was born and raised in North Pole, Alaska. Paul’s professional background as an Associate Broker at Cyclic Properties Real Estate. After 19 wonderful years with his wife, and raising three children in Alaska’s interior, Paul is excited to take on a new challenge—his first ever performance in Pirates of Penzance! He is thrilled to be a part of this production and looks forward to sharing the stage with such a talented cast.
Bryan is a prominent "Go to Person" or "Sword Guy" for Stage Combat Choreography in Fairbanks. He has produced highly entertaining stage combat scenes thanks to the selfless commitment and contribution of a multitude of talented actors that have worked with him through the years. Bryan also participates in and/or contributes to numerous local theater performances by FLOT, FDA, FST, IIT, The Basement and the Palace Theater.
Stefanie Kramer is interested in theatre from both the performing and technical sides. She has BA in English-Drama-Theatre from Pepperdine Univ., and has worked in academic, community, and professional theatre. Recent roles include Marcia in IIT's Unmasked, the doctor in FST's King Lear, and a villager in FLOT's Fiddler on the Roof.





Kyle has recently taken on the iconic roles of Tybalt in FST's Romeo and Juliet and Fran-N-Furter in the Basement's Rocky Horror Picture Show. This is his second musical.
Matthew is grateful to be a part of this show. This is his fifth FLOT production, two of which he played French Horn in the pit orchestra.
“Pirates of Penzance” is my very first FLOT show! I am currently a 5th grader at North Pole Elementary School,I was “The Littlest Elf” in the 2022 North Star Ballet production of The Nutcracker, and in 2024 was selected for Fairbanks City Honor Choir. I am excited about the chance to be involved in more theater productions in the future!
Gay Ellen arrived in Fairbanks in the summer of 1979, just in time to be awed by the sight of fields of fireweed in bloom, and just in time for auditions for FLOT's production of "Fiddler on the Roof". She frequented productions with many local organizations, as a dancer, choreographer, and actor. She is delighted to be returning to FLOT in the chorus of "Pirates of Penzance", and is thrilled to be joined on stage by rising star Brooke Chumbley, her eldest grandchild.
Anna Lange grew up studying ballet, and as an adult sang in the chorus of many Opera Fairbanks productions. She is happy to sing for the first time in a Gilbert and Sullivan piece.





Lori Lange has been singing for as long as she can remember. She has sung with several members of her family in different venues, including Opera Fairbanks productions. She is enjoying being on stage with several members of her family in this production of Pirates!
Doug Lange has been involved in community arts since joining the Nome Arts Council in 1993. Moving to Fairbanks in 1998 to teach music, he soon became involved in local arts organizations where he enjoyed supporting as well as performing with his musical family on stage. Doug is also frequently seen playing saxophone in various bands.
With experience in yoga, aerials, and the wellness world since 2010, Stefanny is deeply committed to sharing her expertise globally. At the Pirates of Penzance show, she will dazzle the audience with her performances using the Ula Hoop and her stunning Isis LED Light Wings.
Katie Long is thankful to be cast as a tourist in this year's FLOT production of Pirates of Penzance, after a long hiatus from theatre productions. She is a wife and mom of 4 who loves Jesus. She also enjoys knitting, playing board games with her family and a reading a good book curled up under a blanket on a chilly fall day.
Avaiya Gettinger is a homeschooled senior with a passion for history, singing and dancing, and she dreams of pursuing a career in acting. She has studied ballet for three years, along with a year each in jazz and musical theatre, and is currently a student of Dr. Kirsten Blair.

Tekla Butcher-Monson was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska. She studied set and costume design at Wesleyan University before spending three winters in New York City working as a theatre designer. In 2019, Tekla returned to Fairbanks, where she now manages her family's sled dog tourism business, Trail Breaker Kennel. Her recent theatre credits include set design for Little Women with Perseverance Theatre (2022) and A Nice Indian Boy with Perseverance Theatre (2023). As a director, Tekla is passionate about comical staging and the friendships that come with collaboration. In March 2024, she founded the T-Dog, a sled dog race celebrating the spirit of her mother, Susan Butcher. Tekla continues to serve as race director, aiming to grow the event into a fun-first, multi-sport celebration for the Tanana Valley.



Jazzanne Gordon has been involved in theater in Fairbanks since arriving in our beautiful town some years ago, including several productions with FLOT! Jazz is comfortable in roles both onstage and off and is so excited to be acting as Assistant Director and, my most loved position as Mistress of Arms, for this outstanding production.
I’m an Electric/Upright Bassist and other various instrumentals, born and raised in Fairbanks. I go to West Valley, and am so happy to be in this production!
Katie recieved her degree in civil engineering in 2019 from UAF. With over 15 years of involvement in Fairbanks' community theatre, primarily focusing on stage management, she has enjoyed various roles both on and off the stage including currently serving as a board member for Interior Independent Theatre. This is her 2nd show with FLOT, and is excited to contribute to this vibrant re-imagination of The Pirates of Penzance.




Valerie is the current President of FLOT. Valerie is a self-taught stage manager and has been involved in various shows for UAF Theatre, the Palace Theatre, Rocky Horror Picture Show, and various independent burlesque shows. She is currently working as the Activities Director for the Fairbanks Pioneer Home.
Amelia has spent her life in the theater, starting at her community theater First City Players in Ketchikan, AK. She has been acting and doing lighting tech for productions in Fairbanks since 2010, and got her degree in Theater from UAF in 2017. he is delighted to be a part of this modern reimagining of a goofy classic. This is her first time acting as Technical Director.
Will Troshynski got his degree in theater arts at Hamline University in 2008. It’s been a while since he’s worked on a production and he’s excited to do more with the Fairbanks theater community. When Will is not building sets, he and his spouse Shawn entertain a bunch of dogs, who like to pull them around on sleds.
Scott Stephen Hansen serves on the FLOT Board of Directors as Recording Secretary and is the Director of Performance Operations for the UAF College of Liberal Arts. He is a frequent-flier of music in Fairbanks, participating in over a dozen theatrical productions with UAF, FLOT, Opera Fairbanks, Lathrop High School, and Interior independent Theatre.
Gwendolyn Brazier’s first production was with FLOT at the tender age of 15 in the 1996 rendition of Pirates of Penzance, directed by Jane Curran and Richard Port. How lovely to be coming full circle almost three decades later. It has been a privilege to see this cast shine! Bravo FLOT and bravo to Phil and Tekla our new artistic blood to Fairbanks Arts! Viva La Theatre!

Kirsten Blair, soprano, enjoys a vibrant musical lifestyle as a soloist, performer, private teacher, and classroom instructor. Kirsten has played several principal roles with Opera Fairbanks, Anchorage Opera, University of Alaska Fairbanks Opera Workshop, and internationally with Théâtre Roger Barat in France, International Summer Opera Festival of Morelia in Mexico, and the Lowveld Chamber Music Association in South Africa. A passionate teacher and coach, she maintains a virtual and in-person studio, and enjoys working with singers in group and workshop environments. Kirsten is currently serving her community as an Adjunct Professor in the UAF Music Department (Private and Class Voice), the Board PastPresident of Fairbanks Light Opera Theatre, Director of the Great Land Sounds Barbershop Chorus, Vice-President of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Alaska Chapter, and Outreach Coordinator for the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival.
Jenna is the North Pole High School Choir Director and Musical Director. She is happy to be a small part of the Community Musical Theatre scene again after some time out of state! Enjoy the show!
