Jonathan

Thea

My name is Jonathan. I’m Norwegian. I am the tallest in my class. I guess I got that from my father. He’s super tall. His name is Harald. I live in his flat every other week. See, my parents are divorced. They still like each other, they just couldn’t make it work as a couple. That’s what Mum says at least. Her name is Inger. People say I look like her – with my blue eyes and my sharp nose. Mum works as an attorney, and Dad is an engineer. I don’t really know what they do, but it seems really boring – I’ve had to go to work with them when kindergarten was closed. They just sit in their office all day and have meetings. I don’t want to have a job like that. I want to be a fireman, helping people and saving cats. I love cats. I really want one, but Mum’s allergic, and Dad doesn’t want pets. He tells me I can get one when I grow up. I love travelling, and so does Mum and Dad. That’s the good thing about having divorced parents – I get to go on twice as many trips. I don’t have any siblings, and I don’t think I’ll have any either. I wouldn’t mind having a brother, but it doesn’t look like my parents will get back together or find someone else. They are too busy with work. My favourite hobbies are playing football, video games and reading. I don’t read much on my own just yet, but I love it when Mum reads to me – especially fairy tales and fantasy stories. We have started reading the Harry Potter books. I love those.

My name is Thea. I’m originally from England. I live in a house with my mum, Elizabeth, and my dad, David. I have blond hair and I think that is quite boring, so I like to use colourful headbands. We moved to Norway when I was four. My dad is a musician and he got a job as a violinist in an orchestra in Norway. My mum is an English teacher. I remember when Dad told me that we were moving. I was so sad. I had to leave my family and move to another country, and I wouldn’t get to see my aunt, Auntie Susan, and uncle, Uncle Tony, as often anymore. They have a farm in Yorkshire. I used to go there every weekend to see the animals, but now I only go there for holidays. I travelled on my own once. They gave me a see-through pocket that I had to keep around my neck that said I was on my own. Dad took me to the airport in Norway and sat with me until I had to board the flight – that means that I got on to the plane. A lady from the airport walked with me and showed me where I should sit. Then she told the people working there who I was. This really nice man working on the plane came up to me and told me what was going to happen and that he would look out for me. I felt really safe. When I got to the airport another lady walked me to the exit, where Uncle Tony was waiting. I told him I hadn’t been afraid once. He was so proud of me.
