Here are just some of the best excursions and pastimes that we’d recommend: - SNORKELLING WITH TURTLES What lies beneath the surface? Go deeper into the mysteries and secrets with the Marine Biologist as your personal guide. Immerse yourself in the house reef and speedboat to spectacular sites. On our morning ride out to sea, our instructor and the boat’s captain go over safety procedures and reassure us that this is going to be one of the most amazing experiences of our lives. Little did we know how true this was until hopping over the edge of the boat and starting our soothing snorkel session. We spot intricate bouquets of coral and groups of colourful fish as well as the stars of the underwater world here; the elegant Hawksbill turtle who glide effortlessly just beneath us. If you’ve got a waterproof camera, TAKE IT WITH YOU! - ADOPT A CORAL You would think that being in the Maldives means miles and miles of sea that’s home to the most striking coral – think again. Thanks to Niyama’s coral regeneration programme, life under the ocean is kept alive and well cared for – and you’re encouraged to be a part of it. Snorkel to the coral nursery and select your ‘baby’. Give your chosen little coral a name and help cultivate it. Together, you lend a hand in maintaining the rich but fragile ecosystem for which the Maldives is so famous. Receive a certificate and follow up images to watch your adoptee grow and thrive. It’s a forever souvenir! - SUNSET CRUISE Possibly one of the best excursions we embarked on at Niyama. Whether you go for a Dream Dhoni (an exotic curved sailing vessel) or a sophisticated yacht, get ready for an unforgettable evening. Bubbly and canapés accompany the trip alongside friendly and expert staff who will keep an eye out for the dolphins at sea. You’ll sail the blue waters and pass small deserted islands all while watching the dramatic sunset and how the Maldives does day to night – it’s a spectacular view that you’ll surely want to capture on camera. - WATER SPORTS Now, when we say that Niyama is a haven for on-water activities, we’re not exaggerating. You name it and they’ve got it!
