Executive Director, Pensacola Mardi Gras, Inc.
As we bring the 2023 Pensacola Mardi Gras Season presented by Publix to a close, I am reminded why I continue to do this year after year. As a native of Louisiana, I know the heart and soul of Mardi Gras. As a resident of Pensacola for more than 25 years, I know what Mardi Gras brings to our community.
Pensacola Mardi Gras was named in the “Top 10 Parades to Attend” in not one, but multiple travel magazines. We have always considered ourselves family friendly, but man does it feel good to have others recognize that. Those accomplishments are not done alone, so with that I wish to send out a big thank you to our sponsors, the Krewes, the weather, the crowds, the vendors, the city, the volunteers, and so many others that help make this event a success.
This year, we welcomed a new mayor and every event has broken records including Manna Food donations, diaper drives, and public school parades. In all the chaos and good ol’ fun, not only did our Krewes beneft, but so did our community in a very big way.
When all is said and done and we get a chance to refect, we can see so many reasons why doing this creates so much good.
Even as we wrap up the 2023 season, we are thinking of 2024. The 2024 Pensacola Mardi Gras Season will be a short one with Fat Tuesday ending the season on the 13th of February! So let the planning begin!
Thank you again to ALL of you that are a part of Pensacola’s

Iron Rock
Where It Is Located
Iron Rock is one of the newest communities in the Pensacola area, quietly tucked away of Highway 97. The private neighborhood is just south of Cantonment and a quick drive to several bustling locations like downtown Pensacola, Blackwater River State Park, 9 Mile Road corridor, Pensacola Beach, and NAS Pensacola.
Why People Love It
As you arrive, you’re immediately greeted by the stunning, stone-gated entry that leads down a road of towering pine and oak trees. The Iron Rock community is up and coming with several styles of homes available and coming soon. The neighborhood’s growing amenities include a swimming pool, playground, two dog parks, covered outdoor clubhouse with a covered grill and cooking area, covered lighted mail center, community garden, nature trails, basketball and pickleball courts, and much more. Sidewalks line the streets, providing plenty of space for outdoor activities like walking, rollerblading, and bike riding.
Pricing in Iron Rock
The 290-lot community opened its gates in 2022 and has sold 28 properties at an average of $487,408. There are three diferent builders throughout the Iron Rock community, with prices starting at $350,000 and reaching more than $1 million for a more custom-built home.

About The Homes
With three builders to choose from, each home varies in style. Basic models start with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and 1,600 square feet, with a wide variety of larger models. The least expensive builder creates a stunning brick home with stucco accents, while the midgrade build is more of a Craftsman style with stained front and rear porch ceilings. The higher-priced homes are custom builds and can be found in Iron Rock Estates — a subsection of the community. Every home sits on a spacious, oversized lot, setting it apart from many other newly built neighborhoods.
Getting Around the Area
Its serene privacy makes it easy to forget Iron Rock’s convenient location. The suburb is a short drive from several locally owned businesses in Cantonment and some outstanding, locally owned restaurants and shopping centers in the 9 Mile Road corridor. Since you can easily jump on I-10, Pensacola Beach and Blackwater River State Park are just a quick 30-minute trip.
If you want to be one of the frst owners in the brand new Iron Rock subdivision, give me a call!

Is there a ‘best kept secret’ in Pensacola you’d like to share?
I think one of the best kept secrets in Pensacola is a cool little oyster bar, DeLuna’s Hideout. It is nestled beneath the bridge leading from Pensacola to Pace. Not many people know about this spot yet. They have great oysters, live music, and some of the coldest beer in town. If I decide to treat myself, this is my go-to spot after a long day of work.
What are your favorite local charities to support?
We support multiple local charities and schools. Since Chris and I developed The Performance P-Wave, I realized that there is a huge community of military vets that sufer from PTSD and in turn have sexual performance issues. I think this is a population that is often overlooked and does not know where to turn for help. We are working on the formation of a nonproft organization that will provide assistance and treatment for these military heroes.

What is the best part of your job?
My patients are the best part of my job. They truly become like family. I have always loved helping people. I think that is what drove me to the feld of nursing originally. Early in my career, my favorite job was working as a hospice nurse. While some would think of it as a sad job, I had a diferent approach and viewed it as helping people during one of the most important times in their life. I think about my job as a nurse injector the same. I am simply helping people feel better about themselves and being the best they can be.
What’s an achievement or contribution that you’re most proud of?
I am very proud of Skin and Tonic. My husband, Chris, and I started this as a small mobile business when we lived in Chicago. We moved to the Pensacola area about 11 years ago to be closer to family. At that time we opened our frst brick and mortar building in Mobile, Alabama, and later opened another in Pensacola. We are now a full-service med spa and are located in Pace, Florida. We are very excited to be a part of the local community and look forward to what growth lies ahead.
Do you have any advice for someone interested in this eld?
My advice to anyone that is interested in the feld of aesthetics is be prepared to work hard, never stop learning, and be humble. We are very fortunate to have a lot of very good injectors in our area. I would suggest that you utilize this as a resource. I view it as a community not a competition. Humility is as attractive to me as pretty skin! So stay humble and don’t let success ruin the reason you are successful!
