he second Aqua Spa situated at the beautiful Urban Park Hotel (which is opposite the Porsche Showroom) is serene and, with Jenny at the helm, going in the right direction. The two definitions of ‘aqua’ — blue and water — are the key themes carried through in each section of the salon, as well as in the treatments. The vibe is professional; we changed into our robes and slippers and straight away felt relaxed and prepared for something special. Reshma and Phindile were our therapists for the morning and Kubashni and I were invited to experience — and enjoy — the Aqua Spa’s signature massage. This was done very professionally and thoroughly relaxed us. The massage beds are a good size which means that you have a very comfortable treatment. The spa uses almond oil or other fragranced oils for the massages. We then each had a Thalgo facial, which was amazing and left our skins feeling
rejuvenated and hydrated. Thalgo specialises in marine skincare products and their motto is: ‘For every skin type the answer is Thalgo. Anti-aging is our forte’. The salon’s facial offerings are extensive and they use products from either the Dermalogica, Thalgo or Lamelle ranges. All the therapists are trained through Intec, which is internationally recognised. As part of the facial, a new experience for me was a paraffin foot wax that left my feet soft and beautiful in minutes! These are also their clients’ favourite treatments and I can see why. The spa also offers pedicures, manicures, a sauna and Jacuzzi and has five treatment rooms that can accommodate one or 2 person’s. With One amazing room being the executive couples room which even has a Jacuzzi in the room, which must be an awesome treat after a massage. A focus at Aqua Spa is couples and a lot of moms and daughters come in together, too. Each treatment room can accommodate two

people per session, which is quite unusual, and this is one of the few salons that I know of in this area with this focus. Price-wise, this salon is also highly competitive, with packages and monthly specials, so there’s no excuse for not treating yourself or your loved ones. Aqua Spa offers all kinds of treatments, focusing both on facials and the entire body, with massages and weight-loss, body wraps and detox, eyelash extensions and permanent make up, as well as the usual mani’s and pedi’s. What is also nice is that there are packages for teens, couples, brides and even mums-to-be and they also offer a men’s range of treatments from facials manicures and pedicures and not just the usual massages. They also offer corporate packages which can be tailor made according to time and budgets All in all, a great experience with the awesome parking being a huge advantage as you can literally park outside the front door of the spa.
