Spirito santo square Pistoia_Italy Competition

2014 The Municipality of Pistoia announces a competitionfor refurbishing a public square in the historical city centre, which was doomed to car park. Our idea is to create relationships and ratios of typical Italian squares: a new church yard connects the public space to the church and establishes a strong identity in the square: a place where socializing. A garden in the middle allows the use of the square during the day. The project is completed with an attractive design of benches and streetlights.

ECO CITY Zhengzhou Zhenghou_China

Collaboration with Archea Associati Competition

2013 The project aims to find solutions that respect geographic and historical characters and the environment; at the same time it has to meet the needs of the city and changes lifestyle requirements. The plan is developed on a rigid chessboard which is interrupted by the presence of large “bubbles conceived as urban multi-centralities, new green spots and sustainable parks. They are strictly linked to the protected area of the Yellow River. The master plan must integrate, in a flexible design, the various systems that regulate the urban structure: infrastructures, green areas, facilities and main functions like residential and commercial.

Delta area: residential district Rijeka_Croatia Thesis work Faculty of architecture of Pescara

2012 The master thesis wants to demonstrate how an urban renewal project could become an example of transformation and development for the whole city. Starting from an urban reading, we defined a modus operandi: in this case history and context worked together and gave us the appropriate instruments to redefine this important area. Most importantly the renewal of Delta’s area was an opportunity to resolve some of Rijeka’s problematics. This analysis led us to imagine another episode of shore transformation, but we wanted to reverse the trend: the idea was to carry the water next to the historical centre and at the same time create a new piece of the city.

tà: l’area del Delta come configurazione d’approdo_ Masterplan: programma funzionale e sistemi di connessione

Le due dimensioni progettuali: waterfront e spazio pubblico

i. ani famiglie. variabili.

Collaboration with Pietrolucci Studio Associato Competition_1st prize

2011 The proposal starts from this our belief: creating a quality urban design, by converting an urban semi-abandoned area, means to learn a concretely social program that can affect the public space, the system of human relations and the architecture. The new district of Scalo Vanchiglia with the River Park, should include different activities related to creativity and social integration: an urban laboratory in which to experiment new forms of social coexistence and where university students and workers look for their first home. In this way the area of Scalo Vanchiglia recovered a specific role within the city of Turin. A space to live, to work, to meet but also to have fun and to create.

Li Lizijian Museum Changsha_China

Collaboration with Archea Associati Competition

2014 The Li Lizijan art gallery is, without question, an urban place that powerfully defines the city's future landscape. Its artistic function will engage the lives of the city's residents, and its urban and social value will evoke the great museums of history, triggering positive influences throughout the area. This project is a window onto nature, a view that frames the river's organic flow and the city in the distance and the green space of the park on the other. The new art gallery is suspended over the water amidst green space, appearing as something between a bridge and a large sculpture, easily recognizable and set to exalt Chinese culture, suspended in its full majesty between heaven and earth.

Quatar pavillon Expo2015 Milan_Italy Collaboration with Archea Associati Competition

2013 The pavilion design looks like a set of stereometric volumes arranged at different heights. The volumes are dug and divided by the intersection of curved surfaces like domes and arches that recall the typical geometries of religious and monumental architectures of Qatar. The apparent separation of the pavillion's external volumes denies the real internal functional layout. Indeed in the central 17 meters high cube all the volumes overlook and connect each other. One of the four main entrances of the pavilion is located close to the axis entrance. On the four sides of the outer area there are small thematic areas covered by high arches, exhibition areas, pools and gardens with palm trees and native vegetation.

2013 The bulding is mainly composed by two different facades. The first one along the street is the continuation of the main street of the city and it discloses itself compactly and simply. The second one, opened onto the inner park is composed by soft and flexible curves. The building volums developed along the vertical direction by increasing external public spaces. The bottom part of the building is an art museum and above the public green square there is the library: a big open space with ribbed slabs in wood.

Hotel&resort Salalah_Oman

Collaboration with Archea Associati On contract

2013 The principal aspects of the project, which is conceived as a business hotel, simple and at the same time complex, can be summarised in a few components that define its characteristics. The building, with a central courtyard, is detached from the ground thanks to four pillars placed in the vertices of the square. Thus the ground floor is free for crossing and open towards the surroundings. It contains a swimming pool and a series of circular voids, is connected to the different levels of the complex through five vertical connections: A spiral staircase allows to descend to the basement floor, the four load bearing pillars, supporting the upper ring, contain internally the staircases and elevators, which direct to the two levels of hotel rooms.

Cultural city Malaga_Spain Academic work ESTA Sevilla

2009 Part of the University of Malaga was placed on the top of the hill which overlooks the city. The consequence of the displacement of these faculties in the new campus was to empty this area and to define a new urban centre. The project proposes a different urban strategy: not a “fill-in project” but a “put in” project. All the functions are located in underground levels and the top of the building becomes a square, a garden and a good place where enjoying the panorama. The project is influenced by traditional elements of the Andaluz architecture as patios and interior gardens, the exhibition areas as auditorium and theatre have a massive character, on the contrary connection spaces have a public feature.

Multipurpose tower Doha_Quatar

Collaboration with Archea Associati Competition

2013 The project consists in a residential tower that contains high-medium standard apartments and many facilities and amenities that increase its value and service ability. At the ground floor, where there are all the main entrances, the tower podium is surrounded by an architectural plaza that creates an urban area along the sea and differentiates the tower among all the towers built in the Doha scenario. The project rejetcs the serial logic of the glazed towers, renown machine to consume energy: the project faces the thematic of building in very warm locations using innovation and tradition, indeed the latest refund in technical pratices are similar to the traditional arabian buildings, where windows were protected by filters(musharabia).

Multipurpose tower Tirana_Albania

Collaboration with Archea Associati Under construction

2012 The proposed tower has 6 levels of underground parking, 4 retail levels, 7 office levels, 8 residential levels and a hotel with a scenic view. The design fits into the context, taking on the lines of the surrounding city for the principle direction of its composition; the division of the volume into four parts reflects the 1920s urban design by Armando Brasini based on the city’s foundation on the cardus and decumanus. The tower takes a minimal amount of public space on the ground through a well-considered narrowing of the structure at the base,a clear widening of the peak section, giving the total a marked sculptural effect. The movement of the tower’s forms recalls that of the historic Italian landscape.

Atelier Villa S.Maria degli Abruzzi_Italy Academic work Faculty of architecture of Pescara

2010 The ruins of S.Maria in Collevenatorio church are the symbol of an ancient rural culture and a poor architecture typical of these mountain areas. The restoration project was born from the idea to bring to the light the primordial spatiality of the nave; reconstructing the barrel vault is the most authentic way to discover the original value of the church. New arches are rebuilt in still structure and the roof is cover with corten panels. This idea has a double meaning: defining the lost spatiality and going on with the stratification work that every architectural object has in the course of time.

S.Lorenzo Market Florence_Italy

Collaboration with Archea Associati Built

2014 In the historical San Lorenzo market we have created a project that respects the nineteenth century space and at the same time has a contemporary flavor. Shops have modern lines with warm colors and materials: ceramic, wood and iron create a captivating space. The typical products of Italian cooking are shown in simple cases and cooked to order by the chefs. This project has developed a welcoming space where to eat and buy the top of the Tuscan products. The architecture stays in the background and makes a beautiful setting at this theatre of the food made in Italy.

2013 The project appears as a homogeneus block from the street side and involves one car park basement, two levels of commercial areas above which are residential and entertainment space as cinema, games rooms, restaurants, gymnasio. The project lines are inspired by the traditional market of Arabian countries, narrow and shaded streets to stay and have fun. The facades, the volumes and the curve lines enact the traditional theme of arabian architecture in a contemporary image to try to communicate with the surrounding context.

2013 LA CUCINA, a project around cooking space:a worktop is the main priority of the proposal and not as mistakenly done to date of designing cabinets it put away and hide the tools of the table. A continuous Corian surface that frees the floor from the encumbrance of traditional cabinets allowing the end user to intall the surface at a suitable height. So much news doesn't exclude tradition which returns protagonism. Ultimately for the kitchen, a new renaissance that is the perfect combination between classicism and modern.

Ceramic lamps Florence_Italy

Collaboration with Archea Associati On contract

2013 The purpose was to realize a small suspension lamp which could express a self material feature in opposition to cold minimalism. We chose the ceramic because it is poor, very expressive and changeable for its own nature. The ceramic is part of the language of contemporary architecture , but in the same time a traditional material, the use of this material with completely new and innovative technology is the mission of this project. The material is translated, from large-scale architecture to a small suspension light, for interiors making it an elegant product with a simple formality.
