A’ LA CARTE DESIGN TASTING 2013 Quoted from an article published in CodeMagazine ( issue 20, winter 2012, p.34 )

“At RHEX2012 trade fair in Rimini, four new Italian catering formulas have been staged. Combining leisure places and quality cuisine, exhibition stands were designed to several target and budget audiences, inspired by the raw materials of food and design. Today food goes beyond the dish and becomes a symbol of culture, an opportunity of knowledge and discovery of different landscapes and their raw products. In this way it educates people’s taste and it is a good way to spend some time in a custom-designed space, manufactured by the best Italian design and contract companies. The protagonists Four players for four projects interpreting the different definitions of food & beverage and conviviality, each with his own soul and identity. Alessandro Agrati concentrated on the theme of wine, dedicating a space to wine tasting; Lorenzo Longo and Alessio Romano of De-Signum Studio Lab, revisited the “picnic” formula with finger food inspired by organic ingredients; Lucy Salamanca redefined street food quality; to conclude , the collective FiliPari&Lords of young architects and fashion designers, composed by Fabio De Solda, Nicola Lorusso, Francesca Pievani and Alice Zantedeschi, brought the viewer into the scene of a contrast between gourmet and low cost, showing that fine eating is possible for everyone. “ WorkExperiences

PRIVATE BUILDING PROJECTS 2008-2013 Different experiences have challenged the interior design skills acquired at university as much as at work. The analysis and the subsequent design of interior spaces to live have produced the conceptual development of many scenarios in which an initial idea and intuition took shape and color through the right solution in the customer’s house. Most of the interior design projects were intended for private residences. with several works on the project from the initial planning stage or works on the remodelling of an existing structure. To design a living space in line with the vision of the client is a very engaging process, which can take months for the complete realization, through several modifications of the starting plan. Living rooms, lounges, dining rooms, bathrooms and kitchens have taken shape according to the customer’s wishes, to the skills of the designer and to the ability of the suppliers. Year after year, the sense of aesthetics, the ability and the ease in designing have developed, always rewarding the clients.

MILAN, ITALY LA PIAZZA VERTICALE 2010 The project considers Piazza del Duomo in Milan as a meeting center of different urban sceneries. A first study of the place shows how buildings define the square creating at their feet an area of influence, where several people move comfortably. In this way there is a stream of people moving through the square defined by some axes: Piazza San Babila – Largo Cairoli, Piazza della Scala- Piazza Diaz and Orefici St. -Piazza Fontana, excluding the central core of the square which is little more than a vast place unsuitable to stop for people. In response to this problem, the project proposes a new spatial relationship between man and his surroundings, offering an architecture that generates new points of view over the square walking in the ascending path dedicated to cultural and social activities. The project revises this open space, creating flows of ideas and information. Communication and interaction with society are the real nature of “public place” as a place for meeting and discussion. The facade will turn into a huge interactive screen by night, hosting many images about culture, information, art and social participation, in close relation with the happenings around and inside the building. The square then will find a new vertical life combining information, activities and the infrastructure already existing under the current flooring, and will look for a dialectic communication with the dome and its front, the symbol of the city of Milan. The project takes the form of a 30 meters high blade digging the square and creating a slow descent path that connects the surface of the square to the basement area already in use as headquarter of activities related to culture and communicating with the underground lines. This crystal prism will include on different floors a museum, a conference hall , a playground, a bar, few shops and a rooftop restaurant.

GROUND FLOOR

SCALE 1:500

Due to analitic point of visual structure it goes to allinea on to sight the incapacity to bring in to this place for a long period of time people. The proposal-project criticizes this, affronting to the path-structure the ability to owe the burden of people so it may transform meaning to passengers and then on going as project real users . The material regarding line-pathing it bring out the daily mood of living it, being times-aftertimes letting the possibility to offer different kinds of settlements assuring of ways the flexibility of in term of place.

The project describes Piazza Duomo as a place where you meet different sub-urbans scenaries. The main key of the analysis describing and viewing the around-building which defines the piazza Duomo and it do creates a real apport- field owner-dueing to according to project into (via-vai) people flow into main directions: S.Babila- Cairoli , piazza della Scala- piazza Diaz and via Orefici-piazza Fontana, excluding the right nucleo living piazza which you can realize that is not the place you would like/wont to stop for. Relieving the answer to this critic, the projects proposes a news space-elaborate relationship between men and what he is surrounded to regarding the place and offering, too, an architect-planning which brings out in continuum new points of view reading right to the city centre heart , in elevating-lines which dedicates to many activities: cultural and social ones. The project elaborates again the arounding place and creates a pool of information and ideas which there by regenerate communication and interaction means with the society, returning the self-nature as a public place, referring always to a meeting , confronting and reorganizing socially point. The media-facade, facing as an interactive screen will see its transforming as a blooming of information, culture, arts and social theme and is strong related in and internal. The square originates a new life-prospect vertical view, and looks out a potential connection with other activities and other leading infrastructure under the actual one, and it tries to speak a dialectical communication with it and its facade, the symbol of the Lombard capital.

It is very relevant that the huge place created out, generates an apparent difficulty referring the projectual gap of not having the possibility for a passenger to stop and relax for a long period of time as desidered, so this reason on to projectual mean needs to recreate situations of more cosy ones and becoming a proposal of activities.

The project consist of a thin building reaching a height of 30 meters above ground level and creates a slow coming-through on-down and connects the surface with down floor surface as an activity place related to culture and Milan metro lines . The project proposes, therefore, that the pavement structure taking shape from the facade of the cathedral highlights, enhances some lines of it creating a strong visual connection between the cathedral and the new vertical square.

“Tourism for Italy: progettare per la valorizzazione” EIRE 2013 FIERAMILANO, MILAN, ITALY

BOVISA COMMUNITY CENTRE 2011 The conservation work - reuse of a former trucking warehouse complex in Milan - pursued an innovating line, but at the same time the existing building has been respected as a witness of that district’s past history. The best spatial qualities of the factory have remained unchanged and have been valued according to new functions, resulted from a study about the potentiality of the area and the building. As of the material aspect, the project preserves the existing image for the interiors, where the arrangement of space and furnishings enhances the open space that the building already had, and improves the external skin, researching quality, sustainability and a pleasant aesthetical composition. Volumetric additions are limited to the new Atelier building on the square outside and to the top unit of the roadside building. The main function of the entire complex is to be an “Idea store” in the shape of an informal library within the redevelopment of the area of the warehouse, in the large area covered by its particular arched vaults made of prefabricated shed, symbol of the industrial archeology. In proposing new uses compatible with the existing structure, this part of the building is divided into a raised space with book shelves, and the reading and consultation area, placed at ground level. All technical and functional systems and all devices are confined into a light metal structure, at the centre of the building. This element separates the idea store from a multifunctional space / auditorium. Competitions

PARCO AGRICOLO SUD MILAN, ITALY URBAN CIRCUITS 2009

The main topic of the project is the reinterpretation of the city of Milan not only as a radiocentric city, where connections between the centre and the suburb are implemented through large transverse axes, but also as a city composed by different “loops” around the its centre, taking the form of a great route linking the Agricultural Park in the South area of the city with several former railway stations and brownfields of Milan. This project would increase the usability of the South Agricultural Park, ensuring a new great green surface, nowadays underestimated, giving the park a new image of wealth and livability. This proposal won’t sacrifice the productive potential of the agricultural sector of these acres of parkland. In fact the operation would not destroy the space with new infrastructure, but on the contrary it would rely on already existing structures, creating bands of green designed in correspondence with these “events” or abandoned in critical situation where the park will be redesigned. The project took shape after a careful study of different types of crops, the existing farms and their activity, the system of the quarries, the water system, the different types of margins facing the park, connecting systems within the park and the new facilities that are springing up in that area.

Kublai Kan rimane silenzioso, riflettendo. Poi soggiunge: ‒ Perché mi parli delle pietre? È solo dell arco che mi importa. Polo risponde: ‒ Senza pietre non c è arco. TOURIST ACCOMODATION PROTOTYPE SANTORINI, GREECE WHITE STRIPE 2010 The purpose of the competition is to contribute with new ideas to a prototype of tourist accommodation (TAP), taking as a starting point the position of the unique coastal setting of the Santorini Islands in Greece , Nea Kameni and Palea Kameni. A new model for accommodating tourists is proposed, facing the problem of the position, of modern bioclimatic standards and of sustainability, adoptable in different contexts within similar landscapes in the world. The project is organized in order to offer a collective point, in dominant position on the highest part of the island promontory with useful facilities for the entire complex: reception, restaurant, theater, spa and wellness center. A gentle stairway descending toward the quayside allows to reach each house, all designed with different sizes and various layouts, but always planned to ensure each unit independence, a pleasant view and climatic comfort.

MASTERPLAN AND BUILDINGS PROJECT 2 01 2 The project is a part of the old railway stations retraining in Milan, and in particular in the great urban desolated space left by Porta Genova former freight station. The project tried to reconnect the two parts of the city, divided until up now by a wall separating the whole city centre from that of the industrial one, that is now the most creative space of Milan around Tortona St. and Savona St. The strategy that could rule this transformation is essential to guide its development without forcing the project in commonplace forms and figures. The figure of the band, repeated sequence of strips along the entire area in a thick gradient-rarefied allows conceiving the development of public space as the sum of the small scale interventions more feasible at different times and can change over time to adapt to the new environment in a flexible and complex figure. The public space is thus the structural and conceptual basis of the masterplan in which architectural intervention takes the form of three key points: a Porta Genova Mediatheque, a free residence in Valencia and a complex of residences along Naviglio river.

NEW SAN CRISTOFORO RAILWAY STATION MILAN, ITALY INFRASTRUCTURE UPGRADING 2011 The design of the new railway and subway station of “Milano San Cristoforo, according to the indications provided by the program contained in the recent Territorial Government Plan of the city, involves the construction of an interchange railway-subway station replacing the small existing railway station building. The project intends to redefine the distribution of the passengers traffic on public transport in the south-west area of Milan. The subway line, the regional rail and the elevated rail line connections and the exchanges with the surface lines of trams and buses will be used by all residents and employees of this ever-growing area. Increasing the number of tracks to withstand the streams of new passengers, the project was also developed on three floors where people have a visual connection from the area of the railway services on the ground floor (ticket office, waiting rooms, bars and technical rooms) down to the basemen where can be found the real heart of this infrastructural hub, with commercial, waiting and service areas next to the tube entrances.
