The ice breaking project introduces the students to the ecosystem of Sarawak rainforest such as the family of Orang Utan, the Hornbill and the crocodiles nest. The project involves the analysis of the selected environment and transforming the findings into 2D and 3D composition. Through this exercise, the students will be able to learn the basic elements of design approaches while developing their own design concept.
The second project will be focused more on space and volume. Using the conceptual painting from project 1, students have to translate their journey entering the new environment into 3D composition. They will be given several techniques as above to develop their ideas and concept.
The final project will be focused more on space, volume, form, scale & structure. Students have to expand their Project 2 into a Wanderer’s Nest that dwell in the new environment. The end product is encouraged to imply the sense of motion or be flexible. It may be retractable, expendable, foldable, openable, layered, ascending, descending, rotating, floating, twisting, turning, making sound, changing colours etc.
