CONFLICT PEACE HISTORY WAR HUMAN RIGHTS
INTRODUCTION TO NARVIK WAR MUSEUM
The North has a powerful war history. The campaigns around Narvik contained heavy fighting in an arctic environment, including one of the largest sea battles of World War II, and gave the allied forces (Britain, France, Norway and Poland) the first iconic victory over NaziGermany. In the centre of Narvik, you will find the Narvik War Museum. The exhibitions are about war and the consequences of it. The starting point is the attack from Nazi-Germany on Narvik and Norway in April 1940 and the following five years of war and occupation. The exhibitions also have a section that deals with universal questions related to war, conflict and human rights. A number of genuine historic items from WWII are exhibited. The museum uses design, photos, film, sound and technology to enhance the experience of the exhibitions.
