We Love

Antiques Creating modern country style with antiques and flea market finds.

Shown is an original 1925 Challenger Target Shoot Penny Arcade Game, patented by W.A. Tratsch on September 1st, 1925 and manufactured by ABT MFG Co Chicago. To play this vintage trade stimulator you insert a penny in the slot alongside the gun and push down on the lever on the right side. That resets any targets that were previously hit and unlocks the gun. You then take aim through the glass sight and pull the trigger. Each shot powerfully sends a ball at the target. For each target you strike, the copper ball rolls into view–indicating a hit. After 10 shots the trigger locks and the gun is ready to accept a new penny. The machine measures 10 1/4 inches wide, 15 inches high and 24 inches long. Available at Riverview Antiques, 2045 West St. Paul Ave. in the Historic Menomonee River Valley in Milwaukee, WI. Call 414-278-9999 or check for more information.

Don’t let the fierce grin scare you away from this charming German nutcracker, an estate find. With his furry hair and beard, he’s ready for holiday cheer–and nuts. Adding whimsy–a tiny bunny and even a string of toys spilling from his sack. Him and many other Christmas treasures can be found at Shy Violet Antiques and Collectibles, located at 129 East Chesnut Street, in Historic Downtown Burlington, WI. Open TuesdaySaturday, 10-5 and Sunday, noon-5. Call 262-767-9390 for more information.

This three dimensional 2 piece chocolate mold was found at Antiques at Gordons. It is a hard to find, quality piece in excellent condition from the early 1900s. Do not miss their annual Holiday Sale throughout their 2-story barn, going on December 2nd through the 24th. This and many other treasures can be found at Gordon’s, located at 2275 N. Port Washington Road (Hwy 32, 1 1/2 miles S. of Port Washington). Call 262-377-4313 or 262-3777225 for more information & Hours

Niemann’s Candies An Interview with the Niemann’s store owner Jim Niemann

What do you love most about your industry? The best part about the industry is we (confectioners) provide a product that make people happy! Also associated with pleasant times, ie. holidays and general gift giving. What are some of the common myths you come across in your business? Myths of what is healthy, butter vs. margarine, tropical oils vs. natural, that corn syrup is bad, sugar is bad, yet nutmeats are good. What message would you like most to share with people? Buy confections with natural ingredients. What would you like me to ask you? What made me want to stay in a business I grew up in? What would you like people to know about your business? We make small batches, high turnover of product equals very fresh candy. What would you like to say to people? If you have never tried our product, what are you waiting for? TOFFEE! What is the biggest compliment customers give you? To never change, even architects tell me don’t mess with the brand. What are you most proud of? Longevity, consistent growth, factory upgrades. n WISCONSIN COUNTRY LIFE

Fox& Fork

Fox & Fork store owner Scott Chenier talks about his store I try to provide an inviting experience to customers–old and new–when they visit the shop. I incorporate all of the senses...visual,audio, scents, touch and taste throughout the shop. Fox and Fork is an extension of my home and not only supplying customers a chance to fill their home with goodies I find and curate, but to allow them carry on the feeling of what I’m trying to provide so they may pass it along to their family, friends and themselves. I have an extensive background in hospitality and I have always taken pride in giving courteous and welcoming service. I enjoy decorating and creating a warm, “feel-good” environment. The shop is quaint, charming and located in a historic town whose backdrop sets a tone to provide all these qualities which I feel at home with. I do my best to be authentic, genuine and accommodating. I have too many family and friends to list who have given me the encouragement, love and support to make this a shop a reality. I’m humbled and so appreciative of this opportunity to be my own boss. My hope is to be able to continue creating within the shop and seek out meaningful items that my customers can enjoy year after year as well want to come back and revisit again and again. Shop small and shop local. That allows me to continue and feel like I’m doing something meaningful and important. Please shop small…Scott n WISCONSIN COUNTRY LIFE

Who Do You TRUST

This old adage is especially true when deciding to sell your valuables, including gold and silver or priceless painting. It can be nerve wracking even telling someone about your valuables for fear of theft or worse. Our friends at the Sell It Now StoreTM can help take the fear and concern away with a confidential visit to discuss your items, the value and market for a successful sale. In addition, the market for gold and silver, classic car or vintage jukebox is not just limited to the United States with the largest concentration of collectors being in areas of Northern Europe and Asia. When selling your valuable, consider the worldwide auction market. An auction or brokering service is the best solution and results in prices that are simply amazing. The key to the successful sale of your valuable includes choosing an auction company/brokerage firm with a stellar reputation and an understanding of global markets. They understand the items, the worldwide market, and what it takes to sell or broker your item for top dollar. The Sell It Now StoreTM successfully sells and brokers items worldwide, from classic and muscle cars and motorcycles, antique jukeboxes, slot machines and other coin operated items, gold and silver including sterling silver flatware, vintage stereo gear, older neon and porcelain advertising, vintage guitars and amps, high end fine art and more. The process is simple; give them a call for a free valuation. You will be amazed to find out how much your item is worth. You might be even more surprised what country your item is being shipped to once it sells. The Sell It Now StoreTM is insured and bonded and have been in business for nearly 15 years with relationships with some of the largest auction houses in the world. They can be reached at 414-727-0600. Find them online at n 36
