Step away from the fryer According to the National Fire Protection Association, the number of cooking-related home fires rises on Thanksgiving to three times the daily average. Rather than trying out that new fryer, here’s a better idea: Bring your thawed, 8- to 10-pound turkey to Medium Rare in Barracks Row (515 Eighth St. SE; 202-601-7136), where chef-owner Mark Bucher will deep-fry it — free of charge. The first-come, firstserve service is being offered on Thanksgiving Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. HOLLEY SIMMONS (EXPRESS)
