Olive Oil Between the VII and III century BC olive oil started to be investigated by philosophers, doctors and historians for its beneficial properties to humans. It is known that, for over 6000 years, this oil was used by the peoples of Mesopotamia as a protector to the cold, so they anointed their bodies with it. The longevity related to the use of olive oil there by chance. Science has always had a special interest in this oil just for its strong presence in history. During years of studies and research, she ended up showing their effects (mainly on studies in the 50s) in the prevention of liver cancer and other diseases, such as the heart. Today, worldwide, production of olive oil reaches 2 million tons. This represents 4% of world production of vegetable oils, and 2.5% of world production of edible oils and fats. Their biggest producers are: Spain, Italy, Greece, Tunisia and Turkey. There are several types of olive oils from around the world. Each one, according to its area of origin, has a personality identified by its aroma and flavor. Only in Italy there are countless regions. This demonstrates the remarkable diversity and the presence of olive oil worldwide.

Undeniably, olive oil and wine are a natural pair and have been since the earliest times. In addition they can be found in terroirs with common characteristics, for both there are designations of origin (PDO) by region and share similar production processes: both arising from a fruit they can be cut (blends) or a single variety. Another point in common is the way they are tasted and tested by professionals in carefully organized tasting sessions. If these cultural similarities are obvious, from a commercial point of view it is also true that these two products have very similar sales mechanics and therefore should be combined. It is very common to find exhibitors (producers or distributors) selling both products simultaneously, enjoying the many benefits that the synergy provides. That is why Exponor Brazil is organizing, in parallel to ExpoVinis Brazil, the Olive Experience, an event dedicated exclusively to the world of olive oil with an audience of over 90% of professionals composed by retailers, wholesalers, buyers and owners of bars, restaurants and hotels, food distributors, importers and exporters, supermarket buyers - a wine buyer is simultaneously an olive oil buyer. Regarding the end consumer, this group is comprised of Class A consumers, students of gastronomy/cuisine, oenology, nutrition, hospitality and tourism. Considering that the purchaser of wine is also buyer of olive oil, in a logical business move and in order to add value to Olive Experience, we decided to create a fair that will offer our exhibitors and visitors the advantage of finding these two products and players in the same space, like the United States and Europe, where olive oil and wine “go hand in hand.
