eXplore Central North Island Welcome to an adventure through the Central North Island of New Zealand. These easy to navigate touring routes were created after the Regional Tourism Organisations of the Central North Island decided to work together to promote the area as one destination.
The Regional Tourism Organisations of the eXplore Central North Island regions start on the Pacifi c Coast Highway and include Destination Coromandel, Tourism Bay of Plenty, Tourism Eastland and Hawke’s Bay Tourism.

Heading inland the regions of the Thermal Explorer Highway include Visit Ruapehu, Destination Great Lake Taupo, Destination Rotorua Marketing and Hamilton & Waikato Tourism. The Volcanic Loop is an exciting add-on to the Thermal Explorer Highway and takes in the eastern shores of Lake Taupo and Ruapehu regions. These organisations are non-profi t and are devoted to promoting the areas they represent and assisting you, the travel trade, in selling and obtaining information on the regions of the Pacifi c Coast Highway and Thermal Explorer Highway.
