Camping in 2020

20 21

The campground was built in the 1960s and has not had significant improvements made since. When it reopens, visitors will be greeted with a new registration centre, 17 new combined washroom and shower facilities, improved campsites, and wider roads for two-way traffic. Underground services will be replaced including water, sewer and electrical systems and many of the existing electrical campsites will be upgraded to 50 Amp. Dead and dying trees will be removed, reducing the potential impacts of a wildfire. Once this construction is complete extensive replanting of trees and shrubs will occur. More than 1,000 other front-country campsites will continue to be available for the 2020 season in Jasper National Park. In addition, there are 15 other campgrounds within a close proximity that offer a range of camping experiences.

To ensure visitors have the best possible experiences connecting with Jasper National Park, Parks Canada is spending over half a billion dollars over the next four years to restore aging infrastructure in the park, such as highways, trails, campgrounds and visitors centres. Visit www.511.alberta.ca, call 1-855-391-9743 toll-free, or dial 511 (inside Alberta only) for road conditions.
