Graceful dance performances await audiences this season. BalletMet Columbus celebrates “The American Songbook” Sept. 21-Oct. 7 at the intimate BalletMet Performance Space. It includes a dance set to the songs of country singer Patsy Cline, a tribute to Sammy Davis Jr. and a collaboration with the Columbus Gay Men’s Chorus. Another American tradition— Halloween—takes a passionate turn in “Dracula,” at the Capitol Theatre Oct. 26-Nov. 3. BalletMet’s version of the gothic horror tale premièred in 1999

and has become a repertoire favorite. The two-act dance focuses on the thoughts and emotions found in the classic Bram Stoker novel. A different kind of holiday celebration—and an even bigger tradition—takes the stage Dec. 7-23 in “The Nutcracker.” The Ohio Theatre will be transformed into the Land of the Sugar Plum Fairy to tell the story of Clara and her Nutcracker Prince. For Valentine’s Day, BalletMet gets romantic with a full-length performance of “Romeo & Juliet” Feb. 14-17.

Broadway in Columbus hosts “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” (above) Oct. 9-14; BalletMet’s haunting take on “Dracula” returns to the stage Oct. 26-Nov. 3.
