EXPLORING ALULA AlUla is a young destination with ancient roots. Visitors today are encouraged to dive into its past, celebrate its present, and embark on epic adventures in this enchanting destination. A rich legacy of historical sites and cultural achievements is on display, waiting to be explored, thanks to the ingenuity and creativity of the civilisations that established themselves in AlUla over several millennia. AlUla’s immersive and exciting adventure activities have all been designed to complement the natural assets and appeal of AlUla as a world-class heritage and culture destination.

ADVENTURE TOURISM With the stunning desert landscapes as a backdrop, the potential for adventure tourism in AlUla is boundless. From November 2020, the Adventure Canyon will offer thrill-seekers a range of 'soft' and 'hard' adventure activities. The more extreme visitors to AlUla can try the Harrat zip line, bump and pump bike park and dune buggie rides through the desert landscape. Visitors seeking a milder adventure experience can enjoy a horse trail, and a selection of waking trails to suit different levels of fitness.

RELAX AND REJUVENATE With echos of past civlisations all around, AlUla’s vast silent landscapes offer visitors a place for self-refelction, meditation and rejuvenation. Secluded walking trails, seasonal wild swimming pools and sand baths allow visitors to get close to nature and take advantage of its healing properties. Spa experiences being developed for AlULa will include treatments developed from the miracle Moringa Plant, native to AlUla this plant that can be made into oils, creams, soaps and more has many healing properties. A farm visit surrounded by fragrant citrus, mango, mint and palm groves and a chance to pat the farm animals offers a relaxing way to appreciate the lush, verdant landscape. Explore golden sands that stretch to the horizon, and experience rocky outcrops that emerge from the desert's expanse. Enjoy the sight intricately carved tombs that stand majestically among mammoth sculptures carved by nature, at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hegra

LOOKING TO THE STARS A remote location in the northwestern region of Saudi Arabia, AlUla is becoming known as a spectacular destination for astro-tourism. AlUa’s low light pollution, clear skies and the range of lookout points in its vast, silent desert make it a a perfect place to look for constellations and asterisms. Al Gharameel is considered astonishingly beautiful, these dark thin pillars of stone stretching up to the stars create the perfect aesthetic for stargazing. The Arch, also known as Rainbow Rock, is a sandstone arch and Dancing Rocks are two large rock pillars located in the middle a valley that appear to be dancing together – both popular for stargazing photographers. Stargazing tours can be booked with an expert in the celestial skies to hear more about how the ancient civilisations used the stars in their everyday lives.
