Exodus Education Program The Exodus Place Education Program was founded 2 years ago by Jim Thiel. He envisioned a program of assessments, guided practice and assisting the men to transition on by preparing them for the employment assessments and/or on to vocational education or college. On average 75% of the men score below high school level in math and nearly 40% are below that level in reading. Our program includes: 3 Steps, M-Tec, and Literacy, Enrichment & Tutoring. Three Steps to Better Employment is a program in which Jim helps the men make a better impression to get a better position with better pay. This is done by taking assessments in reading, math and thinking skills then reviewing and retaking until their skills meet what they are applying for. For M-Tec (Michigan Technical Education Center), the vocational side of GRCC, Jim provides tutoring for the WorkKeys (the entrance exam) as well as follow up as needed. Every Monday morning he transports for tours and enrollment. These certification courses take usually less than 6 months to complete allowing for a relatively quick earning potential. Jim is at Exodus 2 mornings and 3 evenings for literacy, enrichment and tutoring meeting each man where he is and providing the support and encouragement to improve. In order to provide the tools necessary for the men to succeed we need new computers and software that costs $75 per person to license. Please consider donating to this important program.
