eugeot has revealed a glimpse into the future of mobility with its new INSTINCT concept car, a unique Shooting

Brake which offers the option of fully autonomous driving. The Peugeot INSTINCT concept is powered by a PHEV powertrain offering 300 Ps. The car features both ‘Drive’ and ‘Autonomous’ modes, affording the driver the choice between an engaging drive and the convenience of a fully autonomous vehicle, however, the driver remains fully in control at all times and is able to determine whether they have a hands-on or autonomous drive. The Peugeot INSTINCT is programmed with four distinct driving settings. In ‘Drive’ mode, drivers can opt for ‘Drive Boost’ or ‘Drive Relax’, and in ‘Autonomous’ mode they have the option of ‘Autonomous Soft’ or ‘Autonomous Sharp’, balancing comfort and optimised journey times. On the exterior, the aerodynamic, sculpted body is not only designed for maximum fuel efficiency but also to be utterly eye-catching. The styling houses the Peugeot INSTINCT’s ground-breaking technology, including cameras in each LED headlamp which enable the car to scan the road ahead and communicate with the driving assistance systems. Matthias Hossann, Head of Peugeot Concept Cars said: “With the Peugeot INSTINCT Concept and its Responsive i-Cockpit, we are building on the factors that have made the brand’s latest models so successful. We are creating new forms of driving pleasure. These may come from the interfaces, the architecture or the styling. There is no reason why a self-driving car should be dull to look at or to experience.”

“INSTINCT is an uncompromised vehicle in every respect, from its elegant looks, performance and efficiency to its unique interior and intelligent technology, it is a unique proposition. David Peel, Managing Director at Peugeot UK

he Peugeot 3008 SUV is a really interesting car. For a start it rides high. It's also got plenty of space, and it's very luxurious inside. In fact, it's one of the most luxurious Peugeots I've ever sat in. It’s closest rivals are most likely the Nissan Quashqai and Renault Kadjar - but it really does feel like more of a premium project, especially over the Nissan. From the outside its shape might be swoopy, modern and cutting edge, but the real future-fest is to be found inside. In the mid-to-high-range GT-Line, which tops out comfortably

below £30,000, is oozing with gadgets and gizmos.

“Adaptive cruise control? Yep. Two configurable screens in the dashboard? Tick. Heated massage seats? You bet” It has most of the kit you'd expect from a top-spec Mercedes and beats the Nissan into a cocked hat. In fact, Peugeot's latest i-Cockpit display with its infotainment display and a 12.3in screen in place of conventional dials, is superb. It adds to the cutting-

edge feel of the driving experience. A comically small steering wheel is the only fly in the ointment for me, but these are a Peugeot trait now and, to be fair, it does leave plenty of room to keep an eye on that big screen sat before you. The system allows you to alter the arrangement of the dials, decide what is shown, and have sat nav directions inside the driver's instrument binnacle. Rear space is good, if not exceptional. You'll get two adults sitting comfortably in the back, although headroom is hampered a little by the glass panoramic roof.

The 520-litre boot has the lowest loading height in its class and the load capacity can be increased to 1,670 litres with the seats down. Engines include a 2.0-litre diesel, a 1.6-litre diesel, a 1.6-litre petrol and a peppy three-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol, depending on what blend of fuel economy, emissions and pace you require. The GT-Line hasn't got any extra safety equipment—just sportier looks, while the GT gets active cruise control. So it's a good all-round performer with a character all of its own and, while it might be a bit pricier than its rivals, the array of technology on offer and the distinctive looks certainly make it stand out. The last 3008 wasn't anywhere near as good as this one but it still sold well. I've got a feeling this one will be an even bigger success story! How do you follow a legend? The 205 was a hugely successful car and the styling parameters that it set were echoed in every Peugeot model that was to follow. The Gti was seen by many as the best “Hot Hatch” of all time, so the 206 had big boots to fill! The 206 UK dealer launch was held at Birmingham, and for such an important car I had expected something on a grander scale, perhaps a European launch like the 306, was afforded when Peugeot almost took over the town of Deauville? As it turned out it was a great success (thanks to the car), and I recall the first time we saw 206. I was with friends and the new 206 was lined up with a selection of competitor’s cars. I recall standing in silence for several moments; you have to remember that back then, most small cars were like square boxes, so seeing this beauty with all its curves at the end of the line was an exciting moment. It was immediately obvious that the 206 was a special car, it just looked right and as long as it drove as good as it looked, it was going to be a winner! I drove our demonstrator back to the dealership and no worries, it didn't disappoint in the city or on the motorway! On route, I stopped off at Silverstone, as there was a F1 test and I was keen to show the car off to friends (and customers) in the Jordan Team. I parked the 206 in the paddock behind their pit garage and immediately it drew an admiring crowd and that’s how it remained for the time I was there. The 206 had arrived and it wasn’t going to be hiding in the shadows of the 205!

The 206 was officially launched in September 1998 in hatchback form. It was followed by the 206 Coupé Cabriolet featuring an electric roof, and in September 2000, the 206 SW Estate. So successful was the 206, that a third shift was introduced at the factories. 206 was built 24 hours a day! Marcus Grönholm won two World Rally Championships in 2000 & 2002 driving the 206.

The rising star only started her racing career at the end of 2015, but still managed to go on and win her maiden title by racing at Ypres in Belgium and Liepaja in Latvia, collecting enough points in the remainder of the season to be crowned champion.

Since its opening in 1927, the Nürburgring race circuit track has been open for use by the public and for 30 euro’s you can drive a road legal car around the long old famous challenging circuit that is steeped in history. In March this year, Bradley Philpot, a professional racing driver & ARDS Grade A PEUGEOT 308 GTi 270 vs VW GOLF R AND A GTi CLUBSPORT Instructor was racing the RACECAR AT THE NURBURGRING WITH BRADLEY PHILPOT Peugeot 308 TCR in the VLN at Nürburgring . RC CONCEPT UPDATE You may remember in our last edition we featured the 2002 Peugeot RC Concept car and mentioned there may be some race versions still out there? Well by coincidence, Ady, a race driver friend of mine posted some photographs recently of him and his friend Iain, driving a Peugeot RC around the Circuit d'Albi, a racetrack near the small South Western French town of Le Sequestre. His friend lives close to the circuit and discovered that the cars were available for test days by drivers who hold a valid MSA licence. Iain assured Ady it would be hotter than hell in July and he would eat his fireproof pants if it rained! Come test day having flown in a few days earlier and it was raining cat’s n dogs! They had a banzai sighting lap with a French Ace in a Challenge Cup Peugeot 206 & then we were given a briefing on the RC controls before being sent out to play. In Ady’s own words; “The torque of those diesels was monstrous and the track was soaked. I battled with the car and weather and really wasn't sure how I was going to explain to the current Mrs Stimpson that I had forfeited my £3000 deposit in return for rearranging the physical properties of the RC. It remains the only diesel car I have ever tested on track to date and it was a cracking bit of kit”!

Lemon and Lime Meringue Cheesecake Very nice with a light tang of lemon and hint of lime. The base has a nice crunch to it too. One of the best cheesecakes I have tasted. Ingredients Serves: 8 65g unsalted butter 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar 17 digestive biscuits, crushed to crumbs 200ml single cream 1 (397g) tin condensed milk 1 (250g) tub mascarpone cheese 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or paste zest and juice of 2 lemons zest and juice of 1 lime 2 small meringue nests, crushed

Method Prep: 20 mins › Extra time: 4hr setting › Ready in: 4hr 20 mins 1. Melt the butter and sugar in a saucepan over a medium heat, stirring frequently. Remove from the heat and add in the biscuit crumbs mixing well to coat. Press into the base of a 20cm springform cake tin, using the back of a spoon to help you. Place in the fridge to chill for about 30 minutes. 2. Meanwhile, whip the cream, condensed milk and mascarpone cheese together using a machine. Add vanilla and both lemon and lime zests. Slowly add the juices and whisk for at least 10 minutes (the longer the better). 3. Finally, fold in the crushed meringue and spoon the mixture onto the chilled biscuit base. Return to the fridge to chill and set for several hours before slicing and serving. Tip No extra sugar required due to the sweetness of the condensed milk. You could add gelatine to help it set, but not necessary. If you want a thicker base then add more biscuits. You could even put the meringue on top of the cake to give it that bit extra crunch. Make sure you use a tin with either sprung sides or a push bottom or it will be impossible to get out.

ONE FOR THE ROAD Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham And Christine McVie new duet album

he longtime Fleetwood Mac collaborators rekindled their working relationship in 2014 when McVie rejoined Fleetwood Mac for their 2014 Tour. Their new album titled Lindsey Buckingham/Christine McVie was recorded at Village Studios in Los Angeles, where Fleetwood Mac also made several albums, including Tusk. Appearing on the album are Mac band mates drummer Mick Fleetwood and John McVie on bass, making this almost a new Mac album! Christine told the LA Times; “I’ve been sending Lindsey demos in their very raw form, and he’s been doing his Lindsey magic on them, which I love.” “It made sense to me with what she had given me and what I done with it. But we still didn’t know how it was going to play out in the studio” Buckingham added. He continued: “I loved doing it, because it’s something that I haven’t had a chance to do for Stevie as much as I did in the past.” A single ‘In My World’ (click image to play) was released on April 14, and the album should be available sometime in June. Buckingham and McVie will tour North America in support of the album during June and July, but sadly no plans yet to tour the UK.

VEHICLE MAINTENANCE - TYRES You should check the tyre pressure in your tyres every two weeks, before you drive on them – remember the spare too. Regularly check the tread depth of your Peugeot tyres and look out for cuts, cracks and other signs of damage. We recommend tyres should be replaced when the tread depth goes below 3mm – the legal minimum is 1.6mm. Our trained tyre technicians will check your tyres free of charge, and tell you how long they’re likely to last? A FEW GOOD REASONS TO HAVE YOUR TYRES CHECKED ● Good tyres give you better road-holding and more effective braking, especially when it’s cold or wet. ● The legal minimum tread depth is 1.6mm. But even at 3mm, braking distances are significantly reduced. ● You could get a fine of £2,500 and 3 penalty points for EACH illegal tyre on your car.

TOP TIP - REMOVE DOG HAIR FROM YOUR CAR Sometimes, a vacuum just won’t cut it for removing pet hair, especially in locations where it’s hard to get with a full-size cleaner. A simple pumice stone will do a remarkably good job at getting pet hair out of your car carpets and parcel shelf. It really does make light of tedious job. Click on image to watch video.

If the air seems stale in your car or the windscreen takes too long to de-mist, it could be a sign that your pollen filter needs changing? The pollen filter will be replaced at each Peugeot Scheduled Service, but you can have it checked whenever you like. Pollen filters trap dust, industrial particles, spores and bacteria – as well as pollen, of course. Our standard filter is the Classic, but we also offer Comfort and Premium Comfort ranges for people with particular sensitivities or allergies WHAT DO POLLEN FILTERS DO? Pollen filters are designed to do more than filter out pollen – they also protect you from pollutants and germs. They help asthma and allergy sufferers and also Stop deposits building up in the ventilation and air conditioning systems
