Senior Applications Tester Due to ongoing expansion Exaxe (http://www.exaxe.com) is seeking to recruit a Senior Applications Tester for our Sandyford, Dublin office. Established in 1997 Exaxe is an Irish-owned software company that helps their clients launch new products faster, administer them more efficiently and respond with greater flexibility to the marketplace. With offices in Ireland and the Netherlands, we provide leading edge front, middle and back office solutions specifically for the Life and Pensions industry. The successful candidate will work as part of Exaxe’s Business Analysis team, and will interact with business analysts, software developers and customer contacts as necessary. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • • • • • •

Supervise the software testing team in the tracking and resolution of issues. Understand a product's purpose and then ensure the testing strategy substantiates that purpose. Participate in design meetings from a testing perspective. Provide oversight to all test activities and analysis on a given project. Define test phases and execution plans for each phase. Develop, publish, and implement test strategies and plans, test cases, and automated test scripts, and document them all in project management software. Create test scripts to automate the testing process and build the regression test library. Perform all aspects of product testing including functional, regression, performance, usability, and integration. Create test reports detailing test results. Ensure cross-team and cross-department coordination and cooperation in the resolution of software issues. Work to prioritize the resolution of defects throughout the testing cycle. Review and improve existing test plans to improve functional coverage, gaps in prior testing and regressions; development of testing standards and quality metrics.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE • • • •
A third-level qualification in a business-related or computer-related discipline. 6+ years experience of developing and implementing test strategies in the financial services sector. Experience in an Agile software development environment. Must be an expert in and have a deep understanding of enterprise-class application testing.

A significant track record in all aspects of the software testing process, including: Testing strategies; Creation of test plans and corresponding test cases to ensure thorough testing of business requirements in a fast-paced Agile environment; Test case execution, defect documentation and tracking; Regression through all system tiers. Significant experience in the use of the testing tool QTP – both in the creation and the execution of scripts. Manual regression test capability. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Technical competency with Windows environments. Detail-oriented with attention to product quality. Ability to work under date-driven schedules. A keen ability to understand how the software was developed, in order to devise insightful test scenarios is important. Ability to cope with changing priorities and multiple assignments. Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with peers. Ability to act on your own initiative and be a self-starter. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in cross-functional project teams. Capable of accurately planning and scheduling own work and that of other testers. Train and mentor team members in the use of the automated test tool QTP.
ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERTISE • • • • •
Knowledge of the Life and Pensions industry would be an advantage. Experience in the following areas: XML, Java, .Net, Web Services and familiarity with MS SQL Server and databases. Knowledge of, and experience in testing actuarial calculations and mathematical systems would a distinct advantage. Experience in the use of automated testing tools in addition to QTP is highly desirable. Familiarity with TMMI (Test Maturity Model Integration) would be an advantage.
