Take a step forward towards energy efficiency Ventilation represents around 39% of the farm energy consumption in a farm. Up to now, the ventilation system using electronic motors represents the best solution if we wish to reduce the energy consumption (between 30% - 80%). The rotation control device incorporated en-

sures the constant fan speed no matter what the external influence and inner depression, this guarantees a minimum, low, precise and constant ventilation degree as well as maximum exhaust flow ventilation.

Usually, the high operation costs of the ventilation system are often caused by an inefficient fan operation, which at the same time is due to an inadequate choice, a deficient system design or excessive air flow. A wrong fan choice means that the fan is over-dimensioned and delivers an excessive air flow as a result. One effective way to minimize the maintenance and operation costs is keeping the fan working at its optimal efficiency point. Expenses

Directive ErP More efficient Fans The Directive Ecodesign Erp 2009/1257CE favors the economic and sustainable use of the energy resources available. Its main goal is promoting ecologic design and struggle against climate change by means of the reduction of CO2 emissions to the atmosphere. During these years, the application of this directive will affect the products receiving and consuming power in such a way that they are environmentally friendly. • With a deadline till the year 2020, the EU pretends to comply with the KIOTO compromise of increasing the con-

sumption of renewable energy by 20% in detriment of mineral energy. • We must control and improve the quality of the electric devices, as well as improve their performance starting with new more efficient designs. This is why, specific standards for each product traded within the EU are being implemented: electric motors, water pumps, fans for industrial and residential domains, transformers, etc….For such purposes, a series of analytical works and studies of the different categories of apparels organized in LOTS are being implemented as well.

On the basis of these mentioned studies, new standards are enacted, among them those related with fans. The fan efficiency performance must improve thanks to the use of more efficacious motors. However, improvements should be also implemented thanks to more convenient propellers and turbines according to each case or to new more optimized designs.

Design and technology

The EnergySave philosophy, in other words, Exafan´s intelligent air extraction, makes possible the fan speed control in an efficient way, which enables to considerably reduce the motor working temperature, that is to say, we stop from consuming energy in order to generate heat. Intensive pig and poultry farming industries are immersed in continuous development, on one side, thanks to the application of new health and protection environmental standards, on the other side, thanks to the industry restructuration in order to adapt to higher competency levels enabling to participate in today´s market. The fact of making our facilities more competitive while offering similar working conditions to other industries in order to overcome the lack of manpower available is requiring the facilities to have higher mechanization and automation levels.

In this context, and bearing in mind that this reconversion has a tendency to concentrate more production in larger and more automated facilities, we expect an increase of the energy consumption level in the intensive farming industry to take place. Therefore, it is a good time to think over and propose technical design measures as well as practical recommendations about how to manage poultry farms, helping to use energy rationally and energy efficiency improvement.

EnergySave Higher efficiency

Energy efficiency The guideline used to select an efficient ventilation system lies on choosing a motor delivering an air flow at a specific working pressure within a ventilation system by using the lowest amount of energy possible, while keeping the remaining parameters the same. Just as we can see on the following graph.

Return of investment Given the current energy prices and with the continuous increase of its prices, bearing in mind its current values and regarding the investment return point, it is not no nonsense to the take the period of one or two years as a reference, considering the energy saving degree of this original system.

Thermal advantages In the current conventional speed control systems of the fan motors, most of the energy is wasted during the production of heat, likewise, the design concept of the conventional motor has a high energy wasting coefficient, which does not turn into movement, but instead, it becomes heat, using the specifically designed electronics to control the motors is what is really original and key factor of this successful system, a significant decrease of the motor temperature is caused as a result.

Protection devices

The chapter of the required protection devices necessary in a system of conventional fans represent an important part of the cost of the facilities, thanks to this new chapter, it is considerably reduced with the consequent energy saving. Thanks to the new EnergySaved system, on top of replacing the classic protection devices (magneto – thermal), additional expensive equipment and respective installation in electric boards are avoided, we will be able to protect the motor according to the following aspects:

Exafan designed the new EnergySave systems used to control the new fans in a fan external watertight unit, (we install them beside it), which to our opinion, implies an advantage vis-à -vis its maintenance and endurance, since we don´t subordinate the pure electronics to the working conditions of an electromechanical element as that of the fan, likewise, in terms of its maintenance, its accessibility and access is much more advantageous. Such systems are based on the implementation of original, synchronous and brushless motors, including a permanent magnet and electronic commutation, developed thanks to our long experience in the sector.

Comparison of power levels In the graph, we may observe the comparison of the active and reactive power levels of the commuted electronic motors vis-Ă -vis the traditional alternating current.

Proportional start (lower investment in the facilities) The highest peak caused by a conventional motor start, is 3.5 times the amperage of the normal working consumption level at full load, which implies an over-dimension in the section of the electric cables. The increase of this section, plus the long cable sections and the unstoppable increase of the raw materials cost, implies a considerable increase of our investments.

The soft and proportional start of the EnergySaved systems contributes the initial disproportionate consumption level to turn into a ramp, which enables reducing the caliber or electric installation section with the corresponding economic efficiency.

Axial or helicoidal fans to be installed on walls. The air inlet and outlet follows an axial direction (perpendicular to the plan of the blades) according to the coaxial cylindrical surface. They are widely used for ventilating farms, they are also indistinctively used to propel or intake large volumes of low pressure air. Locking bearings ref. 2RS60203 and 2Z6203, the use of grease with a high fusion point, toric rubber embedded in the rear lid, double system crankshaft oil seal of locking labyrinth, are among others, the elements responsible for the motor tightness and protection, on top of the fact of using four robust arms to fix it. All these elements to which we don´t usually pay attention determine our distinctive difference in comparison with our competition.

Chimney fans Chimney fans The extractors adapted to be installed in chimneys are ideal for zenithal fans, widely used in farrowing and gestations rooms, buildings for hens, etc. Renewing the air inside the facilities is the ventilation main task, through a correct evacuation of the noxious gas, stinking odor and dust thanks to the detailed control of the environmental temperature and humidity.

The whole work implemented to achieve the fan efficiency must not be compromised by the use of a new chimney that does not observe the project philosophy. That is why, Exafan has invested a lot of time and economic resources in the development of a complete range of chimneys, which not only keep the fan air flow but actually contribute to increase it.

Larger air flow thanks to the venturi air effect caused by the chimney conic shape. Easily stackable, which decreases the transportation cost. Exafan has created a new type of removable and stackable chimney designed to work in air extraction mode, to lead the air flow inside the farm towards the required areas thanks to its diffusor. The concepts of conic entrance with a conic exit are both linked, this way; we manage to link the notion of easy assembly and transportation optimization with that of efficiency and ventilation system performance in one single product. Aerodynamics The air guide or the air inlet cone of the ventilation chimney was designed to favor the air flow and improve the global aerodynamic performance of the ventilation chimney. Air flow The ventilation chimney was designed to provide with the maximum air flow by reducing the fan electric consumption due to the conic shape of the air outlet enlargement producing a Venturi effect.

Precise ventilation control

Regarding the minimum ventilation precision, there are certain configurations for the extraction system, which allow us carrying out a scrupulous ventilation and turn the most demanding calculations into reality, including the revolution gauge per minute (r.p.m.), information that let us know about the fan speed, also complex systems using debimeters allow us finding out the real air flow circulating through the chimney according to the different conditions inside the farm. Therefore, the Exafan computer will act depending on the detected influences and will correct the ventilation outlet accordingly.

The new shape of the shutter blades has been designed to offer the lowest opposition possible to the outgoing air flow, likewise and whenever possible, we eliminated the corners where the dust could sediment, which decrease the air flow during the rearing process.

DESIGN and technology

Centrifugal The centrifugal system is made of black acetyl resin with UV protection.

Darkness and shutter tightness The new shutter improves the aerodynamic set coefficient and allows to better close in order to avoid the light and air inlet inside the facilities. The new design of the closing shutter design guarantees a higher opacity in order to prevent the light from getting inside. It also enables a higher water tightness degree for a perfect insulation when the fan is in pause mode.

Transmission tension Sliding motor especially designed to reduce the stress of the motor bearings and improve the new highly efficient electric motor performance; this prolongs the useful life of the equipment along with a higher power efficiency.

Pincers The pincer new design as well as the use of the most modern technical materials confers longer endurance and resistance never seen before.

Propellers of 3 blades The new aerodynamic design of the blades improves the efficiency of the whole set by obtaining a higher value of the flow ratio (m3/h) per electric consumption unit in watts. The aerodynamic design of the propellers by means of the computer programs in cooperation with the most prestigious test beds, enable us to distribute the pressure on the hydrodynamic profiles along the blade, and so achieve higher efficiency.

Fixing The special support made of plastic fixes the mesh and eliminates any vibration.


Exhaust fans

Analyzed ferrule design in order to strengthen the venturi effect, which favors the transition of the air flow through the fan.

Shutter blocking The shutter blocking by means of the exclusive Exafan lever allows carrying out the fan cleaning and maintenance tasks without risking our physical integrity, on top of avoiding a possible deformation of the blades, this prevents the use of strange objects during the farm cleaning process (with the purpose of keeping the blades open).

Versatility Many possibilities regarding the conformation of the materials desired, including the entire stainless steel fan structure and blades as well as the fan made of galvanized steel.

Design conceived for the assembly process Part of the Exafan exhaust fan success story is based on how easy is to assemble it, a fact that enables delivering the fans dismantled to destination at a much lower cost, many elements have been supplied with the position and order marks identified in order to carry out the assembly tasks with no problem.

Experience Our experience has helped us refining the design concept on the basis of the workers´ safety; this is why we have taken into account how to avoid sharp edges whenever possible.

Accessories

Fowls are sensible to lightning cycles; this influences on the maturity and sexual age. On top of it, the fodder consumption is heavily influenced by the long day. It is with the purpose of controlling these factors that dark buildings or black houses are conceived, whereby, we need elements helping to darken specific elements such as fans or air inlets.

Light traps Light traps with a metal frame made of galvanized steel and a set of blades made of PVC, which enable the air flow to get through the air inlet but not the light REF.

Greater air flow with fewer extractors The wide range of Cono fans are designed to offer a higher quantity of air flow with a simple assembly system. As we incorporated the Cone to the EXAFAN specific design, we have come up to increase the fan performance between 12% and 15%; this significantly decreases the motor electric consumption

„„ The fan design developed transfers the weight to the foundation / wall, which reduces the tension and wearing of the fan parts.

Magnet The magnets including a rubber protection device avoid the opening of the air gate; they are also protected against friction.

Locking device Locking system by means of a butterfly valve. This locking system provides with 75% less opposition to air in comparison with the usual shutter system. On the other side, the gates don´t undergo the 12% efficiency loss due to dirtiness and deterioration of the usual shutters, this allows the endurance to be unlimited and with little maintenance cost. The locking system consists of two mobile parts making the cleaning process easier and with a higher opening degree.

Propeller Propeller with three blades. The propeller with three blades provides with a higher performance degree due to a consumption reduction, it also provides the whole set with more stability thanks to the decreasing number of vibrations.

Cone The cone provides with more than 12% of the air flow and efficiency in comparison with that of a shutter fan. The clipping system to be assembled offers a high safety and professional level.

Design and efficiency Our system of unique bar with a traction system on one side provides the propeller with higher stability, a fact that favors the improvement of the air flow due to the hole of the air inlet and outlet inside the fan set that does not hinder such flow.

Guide The guide tow provides with an exact opening degree of the valve, they are positioned on their final location, even if the wind force hits the valves.
