About Brock University

Located within St. Catharines, Brock has a park-like setting atop the Escarpment in Ontario’s Niagara peninsula. Brock’s campus is part of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Our campus is within an hour’s drive of Toronto, Hamilton, and Buffalo, N.Y., giving you easy access to major attractions, airports and shopping. Brock’s campus is small and interconnected, with the feel of a small community. You can walk from one of the campus to the other in less than 10 minutes.

WELCOME GUIDE|HR-EHS

HR-EHS is a dedicated team of knowledgeable, caring and responsive individuals who support and enhance the success of the University, in particular its people, by providing leadership and services, promoting personal and professional development, building strategic partnerships and fostering a positive, safe and healthy environment.

Focus on Learning. In order to foster personal and professional growth, HR-EHS offers a diverse range of courses throughout the year. Topics include Mental Health First Aid, QPR Training, OTIP Information, and WHIMS training, to name a few.

Eligibility All permanent employees are eligible to participate. In some instances, a particular target audience has been identified, so attendance will be limited to eligible members of these groups.

Registration All workshops require registration. For a list of available courses and easy registration, visit www.brocku.ca/training/focus. Once registered, you will receive an email confirmation.

Costs Unless otherwise specified, development, material and facilitation costs are covered through HR-EHS.

Campus Security Services. Brock University Campus Security Services is comprised of sworn peace officers who work in close partnership with the Niagara Regional Police Service. Our peace officers are appointed by the Regional Municipality of Niagara Police Services Board. This appointment gives them full police powers on University property. They regularly enforce sections of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario, Liquor Licence Act of Ontario, Trespass to Property Act, Mental Health Act and other provincial and federal statutes. It is our intention to provide you with important information regarding personal safety, crime prevention tips, community-oriented policing initiatives and messages to allow you to be informed of what is happening on our campus.

Information Technology Services. Brock University's Information Technology Services department provides students, faculty, and staff with technology resources that support teaching, research, and services. These services include computer and network support, high performance computing, audio visual, telephone, administrative systems and portal access. For more information: www.brocku.ca/its

Brock Card. Your Brock card is your official identification card for Brock University and as such requires you to have a photo taken to appear on the card. To obtain your Brock ID Card visit the Brock Card office. Please be sure to bring Government issued photo identification such as a Driver’s License or Passport and proof of your Brock ID Number (employment contract, registration information). Declining Cash Balance (DCB) can be added to your Brock card. It is the flexible, no-worry alternative to carrying cash. Fast and convenient, all you need to do is swipe n' go. It works the same as a debit card but without transaction costs and monthly fees. You can add any amount of DCB to your Brock card at any time throughout the year using a Visa or MasterCard by visiting and logging in to www.card.brocku.ca. Centre for the Arts. The Centre for the Arts, Brock University presents an annual HOT TICKET Professional Entertainment Season of some of the world’s best touring artists right in your own backyard. Enjoy a wide variety of high quality music, dance, theatre, comedy and young audience performances from September to April of each year in the intimate Sean O’Sullivan and David S. Howes Theatres. Part of Centre for the Arts’ mandate is to present, promote and nurture new and emerging artists in addition to presenting world class established artists in all genres. In the past, our members and patrons have supported and nurtured outstanding artists such as Jann Arden, Leahy, Natalie MacMaster and Ron Sexsmith, helping them to become national treasures.
