If yes, what elements of the Gothic does it contain (here you may also include your knowledge about the story beyond the chapters we have read). 4) The novel is written just in the middle of the Industrial Revolution. Does this have any affect on some of the themes of the novel? 5) The Modern Prometheus is the novel's subtitle. Prometheus, in some versions of Greek mythology, was the Titan who created mankind. Zeus was very angry with Prometheus’ protection of man and even more so, when Prometheus stole fire from the Gods and brought it to mankind to give them the ability to cook and keep warm. Prometheus’ punishment was that he was bound to a stone and every day a predetor bird would come and devour his liver. Over night, the liver would grow back only to be devoured again the very next day. In the meantime, Zeus sent Pandora – a cunning woman – to Prometheus’ brother Epimetheus. She brought with her a present in a box (Pandora’s box), but all it contained when she opened it in the village among the humans were diseases, evils and death. How does all of this fit with Frankenstein?
