Salina Journal Photographer Intern Summer 2012

 1

Every journalist remembers their first introduction to the “big time” newsroom environment. For me, that introduction was made at The Salina Journal in Salina, Kansas. Working with a professional staff of reporters, journalists, photographers, editors, broadcasters, and even those in charge of printing, taught me important lessons about what it means to be working in the business of journalism. During my tenure, I worked under photographers Tom Dorsey and Jeff Cooper, who combined has over 30 years of industry experience. For the summer that I was there, I was treated as a full-time staff member and quickly adapted to my new environment. I covered stories that I had never expected to be covering, which proved to be not only exciting but also challenging.
