Mira Nachtigall is a Professional Photographer specializing in maternity ,birth and newborn imagery. Our studio has everything you need for pregnancy and newborn sessions.

This guide will help prepare you for your pregnancy session as well as hopefully answer any questions that you may have. Please feel free to contact us for any other questions!

Pregnancy Prep

Pregnancy sessions are best during 33-36 weeks when the tummy is nice and round but before the swelling begins. For those carrying multiples, High Risk or on bed rest, it is advised to have your session a bit earlier, more like 6-7 months. For those women gaining very little weight throughout their pregnancy (under 20 pounds) then closer to 36 weeks may work best. The idea is to have your session when your tummy is nice and round, but before your entire body swells and its uncomfortable.

Pregnancy sessions require you moving in ways you are not used to, and therefore they can be exhausting to the body. We suggest a few things for you to prepare for your session: • eat a well balanced meal with carbs and protein • drink lots of water • stay off your feet for 1-2 hours before your session ( a perfect time for hair/makeup) • We also suggest making sure your partners and children also have a meal before their session.

• We do suggest timeless nail color.

• Clean nails for you, partner & children • Please no glitter lotion or powder • Moisturize the belly arms and legs.

• Bring touch up lipstick

Maternity Wear Ever After has a full client wardrobe to choose from, we do suggest browsing & trying on our clothing prior to your session. Clients usually choose 3-5 clothing options for in studio & on location. We also welcome pinboards, or other ways to show us your style and the types of images you wish to capture.

We generally keep average sized gowns in our studio, however; we have some plus and petite options. If there is any doubt that we will have your size, we suggest making an appointment to come in for measuring and fitting of our gowns. You are welcome to bring any clothing of yours as well!

If you are going on location, it is important that you choose gowns before your session day so that we can bring the right gowns.

Depending upon the style of your session & clothing you are choosing the following are some suggested items to bring:

• Nude bra (strapless or with straps) (our studio provides nipple covers for usage with sheer fabrics or gowns)

• Nude underwear - a thong is ideal or a spandex type panty that does not show lines

• Spandex shorts- Spanx or similar shorts are also ok provided they are nude.

• Closed toed ballet flats that are black work well with most gowns.

• Sandals do work well but be prepared to slip them off for the photos • You can wear high heeled shoes but please bring some closed toes shoes to walk around in.

Maternity styling for partners and children We suggest complimentary styling for your partner and children. This means they do not need to have the exact same color, but perhaps be in the same tonal range, as well as style.

Neutral colors or solid colors ie black, grey, blues work well with most dresses.

If you are choosing more fancy and formal gowns for your session, than your partner should be dressed to match the same style (glam vs casual). Dark jeans and a dress shirt will work great with formal as well.

Likewise, if you are going to go more casual, than your partner can also be more simple in their clothing i.e. jeans.

Shoes are also optional, but if you are wearing dress shoes, they should then also wear shoes.

Please avoid; Logos on shirts, Bright neon tops (mostly neon green), Thin stripes, Baseball hats (unless the hats are a part of your theme. Dress for the season/weather.

Studio Policies and Practices for Covid-19 Per the new mandate for Washington State masks are no longer required in the studio.

The Photographer I will be wearing a mask during the full duration of the session if in studio.

I am also using a home covid rapid test before each session. I monitor my health daily and take many preventive measures such as constant cleaning of the hands, mask wearing , being vaccinated, and extra vitamins and minerals.

The Studio The studio is cleaned every day after each session. All materials that touch the baby are cleaned and washed after each session. There is also a hepa air purifier going at all times during the session.

Maternity Session Checklist Eat something before your session & even bring some snacks if you like.

Under garments i.e nude bra & underwear Other undergarments such as lingerie / lace if you have them & would like to be photographed in them Additional shoes i.e heels and flats Clean finger nails or neutral color polish. (your hands will be in some close up shots, this also goes for partners & children as well.)

Pre pregnancy jeans or maternity jeans if you’re wanting a more causal look Please no glitter lotion or powder Moisturize the belly, arms & legs Bring touch up lipstick Props i.e. ultrasound picture, baby shoes, stuffed toy, anything meaningful you want to be part of your session.
