Scheduling your Cake smash Session
Best time to call to schedule your session is when baby is between 9-10 months. This give you and the photographer plenty of time to discus theme, order outfits, props and cake.
The session typically takes place when your child is 11-13 months. Most kids are happy right after their afternoon nap but you know your baby best. We will set the time that works best for them.
If your child is due to have their vaccines please make sure the session is at least a week after. This way if they are cranky or develop any symptoms or fevers they will be well by the time of their session.

After Photography
Best cakes to use are ones called nearly naked cakes (as pictured above). They are 6inch 3 tier cakes perfect for cake smash. With no added decorations.
Please pick up your cake the day before your session. You can store this in your refrigerator. Take out the cake at let the box sit on at room temperature for 2 hours before your session.
We have cake topers that are added and then taken off once baby starts going for cake.
Flavors and icing
To best avoid any allergic reactions the best choice is a white basic cake, vanilla, and a basic white frosting.
Even if there is no worry of allergies the colors that should be avoided are black, red, and usually brown Ever After Photography

Session day Prep
If the session is after the afternoon nap keep your routine like you would any other day. They may even go over their normal wake up time. This is completely normal. There is no need to wake them to get to the session at a exact time. Once baby has woken up and you get them ready to go send a text to your photographer to let them know you are on the way.

What to bring
• The cake
• Childs water or bottle
• A change of clothes for baby
• If your child eats little baby treats such as puffs, yogurt bites or cereal bring these as well.
For you, make sure you are wearing something you do not mind getting cake on. I will have you be the “runner” to get baby if they walk or crawl away. This helps with keeping baby happy and my camera clean.
Special note
If your child has stranger danger or is super shy around new people. Please let us know. We will set a day for you to come visit before the session to help the child feel more comfortable in a new place with a new face.

Frequently Asked Questions
I forgot to schedule a cake smash session is it too late my baby is 13 months?
It is never too late to have your baby photographed. A cake smash session can happen at any age. Please keep in mind it does take time to order the backdrop, props and cake if needed.
What if my baby doesn’t like the cake?
So many kiddos do not actually like the cake believe it or not. Best is to have no expectations and let them do their thing. Slow dainty eaters, or all in eaters, I photograph what they are comfortable with.
What if my baby cries?
Babies are babies and they will cry! We do everything we can to soothe and comfort them and surround them with a comfortable environment. Mira as a Mother herself has many soothing techniques and tips.
What if my baby wont smile?
This is a possibility. This is a new experience for them. They can be very unsure at first. I do have some tricks and techniques that can usually get a smile or two. Be prepared to hear me make funny sounds and sing silly songs.
