—

Experience Top Quality Teaching — Our international students can choose from 16 Under graduate study programmes, 23 Master’s programmes, as well as Doctoral studies in English and Russian in six main fields: technological, physical and social sciences, creative arts and design, humanities and biomedicine. — KTU students benefit from research and project based multidisciplinary studies, talent nurturing system and joint programmes with foreign universities.

Kaunas University of Technology is famous throughout the world for its breakthroughs in ultrasound, organic chemistry, mecha– tronics, system diagnostics and environmental engineering.

— Students can modify their study plan according to their needs and gain added value from personal consultations and attention to each student.

The University collaborates with local and international industries; our scientists fulfil 70 percent of all research commissioned by business to the institutions of higher education in Lithuania.

— Since 2009 KTU graduates are being awarded KTU Diploma Supplement acknowledged by the European Commission. KTU degree certificates are recognised in the European Union and other countries that have signed Lisbon Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education.

Our students have the exclusive opportunity to study and research in the laboratories with the most modern technical equipment which is being updated every year.

— Our researchers are taking part in European research programmes in physical, biomedical, technology, social and  humanitarian sciences and are constantly increasing their scientific resources to provide the most up to date curriculum.

Gain International Experience — KTU collaborates with the world’s leading higher education institutions actively seeking new connections, such as recent agreements with Aalto and Stanford Universities. These strategic partnerships contribute to a study environment based on internationally recognised knowledge, modern technology and innovation. — Having more than 450 cooperation agreements with European, American and Asian universities, the University encourages the students to participate in student exchange programmes and enrich their study experience. — Kaunas University of Technology applies the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) which facilitates the recognition of studies between different institutions and national education systems. — Our University is a member of The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) which collaborates with more than 6000 enterprises from 86 countries throughout the world. This membership renders our technology students an exciting opportunity to gain practical knowledge through internship in world famous organisations.

Start Your Career — Our University hosts a number of career events, and holds the biggest job fair in Lithuania ‘Career Days’ where students have an opportunity to apply for graduate jobs. — The events organised by our Careers Advisory Centre give our students a real opportunity to meet people working in industry and business, discuss the ideas and possibilities and make valuable contacts. — Business-minded students can test their ideas in our ‘Startup Space’. With the help of business professionals and mentors seven new student enterprises were founded last year. — Any student interested in their future career prospects would benefit from joining ‘Smart Union’, an organisation formed by students for students seeking to learn how to sell their products or services. ‘Smart Union’ facilitates cooperation with international and local business organisations.

Lithuania, the biggest Baltic State

Kaunas, the city of students

The country of just over 3 million people was first mentioned in historic documents in 1009. Having more than a thousand years of history Lithuania now is a dynamic member state of the European Union, the World Trade Organisation, The United Nations and NATO. It is situated in a geographical centre of Europe, at the crossroad between Western and Eastern Europe. Safe environment, economical development, friendly people, historic heritage, beautiful nature and fast developing economy attract tourists, business and students.

With the population of over 300 thousand, the second largest city of Lithuania has gained its name as a city of students due to diverse student community, whose joyful contribution to the city atmosphere is noticeable in cosy old town squares and green parks, small cafes and lively clubs. Every September the streets of Kaunas fill with students coming to study technologies and art, music and medicine, law and agriculture at 11 universities and colleges. Our city welcomes students from all over the country and the world. This diversity creates a space for interesting collaborations, inspiring discussions and unforgettable friendships.

Lithuania is a country where traditions  meet innovations. Having one of the oldest universities in Eastern and Middle Europe, Lithuania uses an education system that satisfies all the requirements of the European Union education policy and has a three cycles (Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral studies) education system, which corresponds to the European Bologna process. Being the 10th least expensive European country to live, it ranks among the top 40 countries in the International Living 2012 Quality of Life Index. Moreover, Lithuania ranks the fifth in the world, the third in Europe and the first among the Baltic States in foreign investment projects. Lithuanians embrace the progress; we rank the first in Europe in the expansion of fibre optic and mobile broadband and have one of the fastest broadband connections in the world. Famous for their hospitality Lithuanians will make everyone feel at home. You will be taken places and visit some of the most beautiful natural reserves in the world, you will be invited to taste traditionally made food and you will most definitely have to watch at least one game of basketball. Whether you are coming for a short visit or for a longer stay, the impressions of our country and its people will stay with you long after you leave.

Situated in the very middle of Lithuania our city benefits from being just an hour’s drive from the capital Vilnius and a couple of hours away from the sea. There are three cross- European highways going past Kaunas, and from the very city centre one can get a train or a bus to any part of Lithuania or set out for an international journey. For those who prefer travelling by plane, Kaunas International Airport is just a half an hour away. Kaunas’ cultural life is loaded with cultural events, such as international film, jazz and dance festivals; our galleries offer a variety of local and international exhibitions. Although Kaunas is an important industrial centre, it benefits from large recreational areas. A relaxing ride on one of many bicycle paths or a walk in a forest park or along the river is a good finishing touch for a day.
