In loving memory of
Eva Christina Vance
30 Sept 1934 - 21 April 2018
Obituary Eva Christina Vance, 83, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2018 at her youngest daughter’s home in College Station, TX after a brief struggle with cancer. Eva was born September 30, 1934 on a farm just outside Brentford, SD, the youngest child of Signa and Harry Hopkins. Eva thoroughly enjoyed athletics and the outdoors but her greatest passion was her gift for music which she excelled . She learned to play the piano at a very early age, performing for church groups and other social events throughout her life. Although she could play the trumpet and other musical instruments it was her angelic and powerful singing voice that separated her from her peers.
Her early years of education were spent in her home town of Brentford, SD, however she went on to graduate from the Wesleyan Methodist High School in Miltonvale, KS where she focused her studies on music. She went on to attend Northwestern University for a year, majoring in music before marrying George B. Vance of Redfield, SD. In addition to raising their four children, she also volunteered at her local church as musical director and was a consummate homemaker. In 1984, Eva moved to Phoenix, AZ where she ultimately retired from her public service career with Maricopa County. Eva is survived by her sister Helen, her sons Edward and Jerry Vance, her daughters Janice Arvo and Tricia Anderson along with twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
1 Corinthians 13:7 “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things, Love never ends.”
John 14:1-3 “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
This world is not my home I’m just a passing through My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue The angels beckon me from heaven’s open door And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore .....
