Child sexual abuse is a disturbing reality that affects millions of children It involves any sexual activity, including unwanted touching, sexual exploitation, child pornography, and rape. These acts are often perpetrated by adults or older adolescents and are typically committed by people the child knows and trusts, such as family members, family friends, teachers or neighbours
We invite you to delve into the story of Taira Gonçalves, a 36-year-old Brazilian born in the city of Ituiutaba, who bravely shares her journey of pain, trauma, and resilience “I want to share with you a part of my story,” she begins, “a journey that has shaped who I am today.”
During her childhood, Taira endured sexual abuse from a seemingly benign neighbour Reflecting on this, she expresses how the ordeal robbed her of her innocence and the sense of security inherent to every child The lingering scars from this trauma continued to shape her self-esteem, relationships, and worldview well into adulthood
Resilient and determined, she tapped into an inner strength that drove her to refuse being defined by the abuse she endured "I unearthed a resilience within me to confront challenges and pursue justice. I confronted the shame and fear of addressing what had happened and found solace in the support of those who loved and cared for me," she explains
As time passed, Taira evolved into an advocate for the rights of victims of child sexual abuse She shared her story to enlighten others about the gravity of this issue and how to overcome it. "We must address this, we must combat child sexual violence," she asserts
Yet, the events that shaped her life prompted her to go even further It was then that Taira poured all her anguish and pain onto paper, culminating in the creation of a book
"My book, 'Listen to My Cry,' is the outcome of this journey of resilience, and through it, I aim to connect with more individuals willing to support the fight against child sexual violence," she elucidates. The book, rooted in the events of Taira's life, opens its initial chapter with a compelling comparative paragraph, prompting readers to draw parallels with their own experiences. This sets the stage for a thought-provoking reading journey, brimming with moments of introspection.
“It was once said that the worst thing that can happen to a human being is being born, but I was born. Out of millions of sperm, I pierced my mother's egg and won at least the first battle. I could have been born a princess in a castle in Arabia, or into a family specialised in hunting truffles in a Normandy forest But no I was born in a small town in Minas Gerais called Ituiutaba. I was born there without believing in karma because everything is as it should be, everything is right or not, and everything can be the work of chance. And chance does not always protect us”, Taira Gonçalves - (First Paragraph of the 1st Chapter).
Taking her own life as an example, Taira, in search of more awareness on the part of society and family unity, calls on readers to find out more about the topic, so that everyone can do their part in combating child sexual abuse

Who is Klicia Silva? She is much more than just a woman She is a warrior, a tireless defender of women's rights and an inspiration to all those who have the pleasure of crossing her path At 42 years old, she is married to Juliano Pires, member of the musical group, ‘Só pra Contrariar ’ She is the mother of four children: Kerolainne 26, Kelven 25, Klyan 21 and Eyshila aged 12, and has two granddaughters. But her journey goes far beyond these family roles.
For around eight years, Klicia faced serious domestic violence. However, instead of letting these adversities get her down, she found the strength to rise up and transform her pain into a greater purpose She decided it was time to act
With determination and an unshakable belief in the potential of women, she founded the social project "Women with Purpose and Attitude " This project is not just an organisation, but a training movement that aims to transform the lives of women in vulnerable situations
For the project coordinator, the key to female empowerment lies in the woman herself. She deeply believes in women's ability to overcome any adversity, as long as they believe in themselves "They need to believe that they are capable And women can," she says
The project led by Klicia offers a wide range of services, from psychological support, professional training and educational guidance Additionally, it promotes awareness of women's rights and works to combat violence in all its forms
“Our Social Project has provided this support to women. It's important to be aware, because at this moment everything that affects your psychology, belittles you, is abusive. And there are several promises of change, and most trust them! But it only gets worse. If I hadn't sought help and left this place, I would be in the statistics of women killed by domestic violence. I don’t see myself as a poor thing, but as a victim.” says Klicia.

HOW TO GET OUT OF A TOXIC RELATIONSHIP
“There are many women going through the most difficult time of their lives alone, while everyone believes she is fine It is important to do a self-analysis of your relationship Start your decision-making process; make the decision with confidence and assertiveness; seek help; go to therapy to deal with the abusive relationship; be patient; take care of yourself”, she says
“Be firm in your decision. An abusive relationship, however, is one in which excessive power of one person over the other predominates, based on actions, attitudes and verbal orders that humiliate, embarrass and limit the person ”
However, any bond where intimidation, abuse of authority, manipulation, restriction of freedom, punishment, psychological violence or humiliation are perceived can be characterised as abusive The relationship becomes abusive when one of the parties involved uses their power to manipulate and dominate the other, such as: control over the choice of clothes, friendships, social networks, excessive displays of jealousy and victimisation.
“Currently, I dedicate my time and energy to helping women rediscover themselves and regain the desire to live. In addition to offering support, we promote confidential meetings to help these victims seek help, report complaints and seek justice”, she recalls

RECOGNISING YOUR TRAUMA WITH BODY READING

I am a holistic therapist specialising in a comprehensive approach that addresses emotional, spiritual, energetic, and physical aspects of well-being One of the therapies I offer is called Body Reading, which focuses on healing childhood traumas experienced from pregnancy up to the age of seven
Who seeks this therapy?
Individuals who are on a journey of selfdiscovery and wish to resolve emotional issues related to various areas of their lives, including romantic, professional, and family relationships, as well as mental health
How does it work and what is the process?
When a client comes to me, we begin by scheduling a consultation (anamnesis) During this session, we engage in a comprehensive conversation about their current life, the challenges they face, and aspects of their childhood (only discussing what the client feels comfortable sharing)
Using this information, I identify their character traits (personality characteristics and temperament) and determine which of these traits are experiencing pain The pains I address are Rejection, Abandonment, Manipulation, Humiliation, Betrayal, Exchange, and Exclusion.
To better understand my work, I'll share a case that illustrates the process and its results.
Let's call the client 'Alice' She is a 29-yearold woman experiencing depression and an emotionally dependent relationship. Her decision to seek holistic therapy stemmed from a desire to escape this situation and gain self-knowledge After the anamnesis, I identified her pains as Rejection, Abandonment, Humiliation, and Betrayal/Exclusion.
Once the character traits were identified, we began therapy to reframe the pain. This process included regression (without hypnosis) using relaxation and imagery techniques, allowing Alice to revisit the phase in childhood when she registered the pain Following this exercise, we conducted various breathing exercises and other activities designed to raise her awareness of the behavioural changes she needed to make
In this therapy, the client identifies what is disturbing their life and their behaviour. For instance:
In the first regression for the pain of rejection, Alice found herself in a very cold and dark womb
In the second regression, addressing the pain of abandonment, she saw her mother's emotions of sadness and anguish When I asked her to close the hole in her heart caused by the pain of abandonment, she identified an object that only she knew a diaper she slept with as a baby
The exercises I conducted helped Alice realise which situations had caused her trauma. Therefore, I do not dictate whether a particular behaviour is good or bad in your life Instead, you will recognise that certain attitudes stem from past events that are reflected in your current life My job is to guide you in this discovery.
We repeated the exercise with all the other pains, and each regression was a key she turned.
Today, Alice understands that she was not suffering from depression but rather from deep sadness caused by these pains She left the emotionally dependent relationship and is now attending university, studying psychology. This is just one of the many cases I have been able to help, as body reading provides you with tools to better know yourself and heal your pain My role is simply to provide you with these tools

Can you share with us a bit about your background and where you grew up?
Yeah, I'll start from the very beginning I was born in Glasgow, so I'm half Scottish, half Greek Then I moved down to England and lived there until I was about 10. After that, we moved to Indonesia, where I spent my formative years. Then I went to boarding school in Scotland So, I've been all around and consider myself a bit of a cultural mutt I have no clear cultural identity; I'm a nomad
How do you think your upbringing has influenced the person you are?
I believe that because of my unique heritage and the way I grew up, spending my formative years in a culture different from my parents', I've ended up as a third culture kid This has both its advantages and disadvantages The good part is that it makes you very adaptable and understanding of other people's cultures, allowing you to connect with almost anyone. The downside is that you don't fully belong to any one place. When I go to Scotland, I'm not quite Scottish In Greece, I'm not really Greek In Indonesia, I'm certainly not Indonesian And having an English accent adds another layer of complexity to my identity While it's been wonderful and I've had an amazing upbringing, experiencing so much by the age of 14, it also means I don't have a singular cultural identity.
What about friendships?
I mean, the friends I have are for life, but they're dotted all around the world I've got friends in America, in Germany, in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia And it's like, okay, I'm now in England. Oh God, I don't see these friends as much as I'd love to. Thank God we live in a digital world where we can actually talk no matter where we are But it's not the same And so when it comes to your upbringing, usually when people say, oh, you're from here, you're from Wiltshire Say, for example, you've done this and that I'm like, oh, I am from Wiltshire, but I had never done that or that or that because I'm not even culturally English, really. I just have a very terribly, awfully English accent. Some people say I sound like a bumbling Hugh Grant I wouldn't say that about myself because I don't want to come across conceited, but that's what I have been told
Can you describe a typical day in your life before the experience on Married at First Sight (MAFS)?
So before the experience, I was completing my master's and then ended up working for an investment platform called Hargreaves Lansdown (HL) My typical day involved getting up at 6 o'clock in the morning, getting through the rush hour traffic, and then slugging it out at work I loved my job it was amazing I worked in investment communications and enjoyed being creative within the financial world. Prior to that, I was the head of marketing for an investment fund. So, my lifestyle was very much corporate and career-focused
Why did you decide to go to the show?
I decided to do the show because, well, why not? I knew I’d never get this opportunity again And then I thought, if I hadn't done it, what if? What if I could have met someone I could have spent the rest of my life with, and we'd have had this amazing experience together that no one else would ever get to share. But obviously, it didn't work out.
How did your family and friends react when they learned about your decision to join the show?
Unfortunately, they just went, "What are you doing? This is not what you should be doing. You've got this master's from one of the best universities in the UK. You're at the biggest investment platform in the UK Your career's all set up to be fantastic And you're throwing it all away to go on a TV show " And I just remember saying, "You can always get another job "
So you have another job now?
No, I'm very much working for myself now, and I don't think I will ever work for someone else again It made me realise I want to be the master of my own destiny and not a follower of anyone else's I've gone down the right path Right now I'm now training to be a financial advisor
What was your biggest fear or concern before going into the experiment?
My biggest fear was, oh my God, what if she's ugly? No, I'm kidding My biggest fear going into the experiment was what if everyone hates me? I remember I couldn't sleep at night for so many nights before the show aired And even when the show was airing, I kept thinking, "What are people going to think about me today? Will they like me? Will they depict me in a way that's really unsavoury, distasteful? Will they make me out to be a monster?" I was really just spiralling, and I couldn't get it out of my head That was my biggest fear being absolutely hated to the point where I might not even get work again
Reflecting on your time on the show, what was the most unexpected or surprising aspect of the experience?
I think what I didn't expect to get from the experience was the personal growth If anyone watched the show, they would know that when I came in, I came across as rather meek, timid, and quite shy I had my confidence knocked, and I came out the other end just a literally bigger person as in, I went to the gym. I experienced a level of growth I didn't think I would get from the experience I thought I'd go in and get a couple of friends I was hoping I'd maybe get a relationship, but obviously, very understanding that it's a TV show and you don't always get what you ask for when it comes to that kind of stuff But when it came to my personal growth, it was just phenomenal. What I hated was seeing how sad I was at the beginning of the experiment. But I'm glad that I found my happiness as a result of doing it
Can you share a funny or memorable behind-the-scenes moment from filming that viewers might not have seen on the show?
I've got a really good story Me, Rozz, Jay, and Luke, we would play a game called Monopoly Deal past curfew We all had to be in our rooms with our own couples by seven o'clock, but we always stayed late One time, security barged into the room, and we ended up all hiding. Jay was even hiding in her own room, I don't know why. So there was me, Jay, and Rozz in a closet, and then Tasha was underneath a bed Rozz was laughing so hard she piddled on Jay, which was hilarious Obviously, we got caught because of the laughter We had a few drinks, and we got a massive telling off from the producers, with Tasha still under the bed. We're having a serious scolding, and I'm just like, "Oh, my God, what am I doing? I've been led astray." I'm kidding; I was just as culpable It was all very innocent We were just playing Monopoly Deal We just wanted to spend time with our friends because you build some very deep bonds in that experience It's a trauma bonding experience, but it's fun.
Were there any particular moments or interactions with your fellow contestants that had a significant impact on you, either positively or negatively?
I just remember I've never had a group of lads be so supportive of me and just be there for me whenever I needed them. I remember when the show was on, it was the first commitment ceremony The first commitment ceremony did not go well for me
It was very, what's the word? It was mortifying, I would say It's probably the best way to describe it. So JJ, for example, with one of his mates, drove all the way from Essex to come on a night out with me, stayed a few days And we just all enjoyed each other's company whilst we got over the trauma So I'd say that was the experience from my other contestants that I really enjoyed. Just the friendships I made
How did participating in the experiment change your perspective on love, relationships, or even on yourself?
I went in thinking I was ready for a relationship And while I was really open to it throughout the experience, by the end, we decided to go our separate ways No negative perceptions of the person I was with she's a lovely girl, it just wasn't meant to be I remember coming out thinking, "Oh, I am ready for a relationship " But then I tried talking to people and realised, no, I'm really not ready So I think, even now, when I'm talking to people or trying to go on a date, I just don't feel ready.
This experience made me realise I need to work on myself I've done a lot of work on myself, both during and after the process, but I still have a bit more to do before I feel ready to find love again. If you could offer a piece of advice to future contestants on the show, what would it be?
I would say to anyone who's doing a show like this, be it Love Island, Married at First Sight, Love Triangle, any one of these shows, you really have to be open to listening to the criticism that other people are giving you When you're so close to yourself, you don't always know what you're doing wrong Sometimes our perception of ourselves does not match the reality of our actions
For example, when I was in the experiment, I learned that I was actually very closed off about how I felt. I even had welfare producers telling me, "Thomas, whenever we ask how you are, you always tell us how other people are and don't tell us how you are This is a show about how you're feeling If you aren't telling us how you're feeling, you're not doing yourself justice You're not opening up " I realised I had to open up because if I didn't, I would have had to leave
So, if you want to be successful in these shows, you have to listen to the criticism others give you. You shouldn't see it as people hating on who you are; they're trying to help you be your best self, not trying to change you. You should always look to improve yourself, not change who you are for other people
Do you think you were just too worried in the beginning?
I was just so hyper-aware. The camera was there, and I was so defensive of my character because I was so scared of how people would perceive me. I was really closed off Even my mum said hugging me is like hugging an ironing board sometimes But I did learn to open myself up And I think throughout the show, you did see me open up
Since the show, you've received quite a bit of attention from admirers. How has this sudden surge of female attention impacted your approach to dating?
Oh, this is going to sound really bad With all the attention, I feel like a regular girl on Tinder Women get loads of attention anyway, right? So now I’m getting a lot of attention, but I question how genuine it is Are they actually looking to get to know me because they like who I am, or is it because of the blue tick on Instagram?
That's something I'm very fearful of. From my experience, they often say, "I really want to see you, I really want to see you " Then, when we meet, they get what they wanted, and they get that clout They can always say, "I had this guy in my DM " It makes me really keep people at arm's length because you're safer that way I'm very hesitant to trust strangers when it comes to dating because I don't know what their intentions are People's actions versus their words are very different these days.
Have there been any lessons or insights you've gained from your dating experience from the show that have surprised you or challenged your previous beliefs?
I would say something that's changed my previous beliefs is that I've always been particularly vindictive when it comes to dating. If someone gives me tit, I do tat. If someone doesn't want to talk to me, I don't talk to them. Fine, whatever, you can go your own way If someone doesn't want to give me a birthday card or acknowledge my birthday, okay, fine, I won't do that to you But what I've learned is, no, you just kill people with kindness It doesn't matter what people's perceptions are of you You just be kind and don't worry about what other people are doing because it's a reflection of them, not you
Are there any specific qualities or values that you prioritise when seeking a potential partner?
I believe I need someone who is going to prioritise me I realised from my past dating experiences that I haven't been prioritised As a result, if someone I'm dating doesn't prioritise communication and doesn't make an effort to actually see me, then, you know, I'm not just an accessory I'm meant to be potentially your future partner. If you're not giving me your all now, then you don't get all of me.
That is very much my cutoff If you're not going to prioritise me, especially in the early days when you're supposed to be on your best behaviour and making the best impression, then it's only going to get worse, not better How does it get any better than that? If they're not eager to see you, if they don't want to see you, then it's time to move on.
What advice or tips would you offer to people navigating the modern dating scene based on your own experience and insights?
From my experience, I've learned that the grass is greener where you water it, not on the other side We live in a dating culture where people often hold out for something just a little bit better But the truth is, there will always be someone better than us, not to be critical, but to be pragmatic So the most important person is the one you invest time in, not the one who has the most money, the best looks, or the most followers on Instagram.
What are your hopes when it comes to finding love in the future?
My hope for finding love in the future is really just to find someone who wants to build a life with me, rather than seeing me as some sort of accessory on the side. I believe that dating should ultimately lead to marriage, where you're not just two individuals, but a united family working together If you're not working towards that, then what's the point, right?
Outside of the show, what are some of your passions and interests that people might not know about you?
This is going to be something not many people know I am actually obsessed with golf I'm obsessed with it Because when, as a man, you approach your 30s, there are three things you get into Golf, the gym or CrossFit Those are the three things I've ended up doing. There is no better feeling than hitting a ball with a club properly. Seeing it fly 300 yards, that's the best feeling in the world Trust me
What hobbies or activities do you enjoy in your free time?
It's golf, but I'm also quite into my art So, I'm very good at illustration, graphic design, and I'm very good at drawing as a result. So, I love my art and I'm trying to get into art painting, but it's very difficult
Reflecting on your journey, what are you most proud of accomplishing so far?
Sometimes I feel very negative and down about what I'm doing, but then I just go over what I've accomplished I was head of marketing for an investment fund at 24. I gained a master's degree, I've worked for the biggest investment platform in the UK. I've been on the UK's most-watched dating show this year, apart from Love Island So, when I list my accomplishments, I realise, no, I've done a lot and I should be really proud of myself I've been very successful, and I'm very lucky, very privileged, because I don't think I would have been able to do it without the support from my family. They are incredibly vital, but it was me who did these things But yeah, I did have that support beneath me to make sure I was okay while I was doing it So, that's what I'm most proud of, just being successful in everything I'm doing because I gave it 100%
Looking towards the future, what are some of your goals, both personal and professional?
So, my personal goals are, when it comes to my health, I'm looking to just get fitter and stronger because I was so skinny a few years ago I was 55 kilograms and at my highest, I gained 25 kilograms. So, I got to 80 kilograms. I'm 70 at the moment because I've lost a lot of weight due to illness. But besides that, I'm looking to get fitter and stronger
In terms of professional goals, I'm training to be a financial advisor, and I'm really hoping to start my own financial practice to provide advice and help people reach their financial goals. I feel like in the UK, there's a significant need for better financial education and guidance, and it's something I really want to bring to the table and help people achieve in the future.
How do you maintain a positive mindset and stay resilient when times get tough?
Before, when times would get tough, I would get knocked down and I wouldn't want to get up. But now, I've cultivated positive affirmations as a daily habit, which has been incredibly helpful. These affirmations include reflecting on my accomplishments and acknowledging the support of friends and family who mean a lot to me I make it a point to speak with a friend daily, either on the phone or in person Or I go out and play some golf or go to the gym, focusing on something that makes me happy Even if I'm not doing well in other areas, I know that when I come out of the gym and I've given it my all, when I've played golf and I feel like I've improved, when I do a bit of art and I've enjoyed the progress, I've accomplished something.
How do you prioritise self-care and personal growth in your everyday life?
I always say, "What's one thing I can do to make myself better every day?" because I believe that even a 1% improvement every day compounds throughout a lifetime So, even when I feel like I don't want to do anything, I make sure to do at least one thing that contributes to my personal growth on that day.
Can you share any projects you are currently working on? Maybe another show?
I will never do another dating show again I will put that on the record, I will never do another dating show again However, I am looking to become a financial advisor I've got my exams on the horizon and then I'll be qualified to give financial advice very soon.
What message or words of wisdom would you like to share with our readers to inspire them on their own journeys?
I would say to anyone who is going through heartbreak or is really struggling with personal growth, "level up." Do something, work towards something that you want. You have to set out a goal with a clear beginning and end. Make the milestones smaller and digestible For example, if you want to become a politician, start by understanding how to get there Break it down into achievable steps The same goes for losing weight; create a plan and set achievable milestones Writing down your plan and setting out doable milestones is crucial, and it's what has helped me I believe others can do it too

How did the idea of selling chocolates at the Military College door come about?
In February 2016, Vanessa, who is a Human Resources Manager, identified a good opportunity to sell my chocolates at the door of a Military College in the neighbourhood where we lived, in Goiânia, Goiás The aim was to pay for the tickets to come to England We wanted to live in another country and no longer wanted to work formal contract jobs That’s how we started the street selling chocolate business, and it was a success.
What was the students’ reaction to the new point of sale?
The 'candy aunts,' as we were called, became an expected presence When we didn't show up, the next day, the kids complained that they missed us Buying sweets when entering and leaving class became one of the most anticipated moments by the students. Our stand became a meeting point where we talked a lot with them.
How was the move to England, and what happened to the chocolate trade?
In May 2016, Vanessa and I moved to England, leaving my brother in charge of the trade Everything was going well until, in August 2017, due to Vanessa's health problems, we had to return to Brazil.
How was the business resumption in Brazil?
We resumed our street trading, but with a new feature: a second point of sale on weekends on my doorstep It was on the same street as the Nossa Senhora da Assunção Catholic Church, famous among the faithful, including some country singers such as Gustavo Lima and Cristiano Araújo. Selling chocolates on Sunday nights was an excellent strategy and increased the visibility of our products
In March 2018, the duo decided to register the business in the MEI (Individual Micro Entrepreneur) category, giving birth to P S Chocolate Their plan was to establish a formal chocolate shop, leveraging the bustling neighbourhood near the Federal University of Goiás and the Church. However, this plan was put on hold when they made the decision to return to England in April 2019 and pursue the project there

Talia, a gifted artist, singer, and accordionist, was born in England to Portuguese parents, deeply rooted in Portuguese musical traditions influenced by her father, a concertina player. Her rich musical heritage and exceptional talents have opened significant doors, leading to performances for esteemed venues such as the Royal Shakespeare Company in London, The Kings Head Theatre, and appearances on BBC television
In 2019, Talia was featured on RTP Television for the release of her album "Excited". Two years later, in 2021, she won the Best Songwriter award in a competition organized by the Cat’s Cradle Collective This achievement led her to participate in the audiovisual project “Das Tripas Coração em Carne e Osso”, celebrating World Portuguese Language Day The event took place at the Portuguese Embassy in London, where Talia shared a personal story about her connection with the traditional music that inspires her. Her composition was also broadcast on Antena 2 in Portugal.
Currently, Talia is a regular presence in the London music scene, performing at venues like the Portuguese restaurant Caravela and various events, weddings, and festivals She is currently in the studio working on her second album, scheduled for release this year.

Isabel, can you tell us a bit about your career and how you first connected with the Brazilian community?
I'm Portuguese, but I've lived in London for 9 years. My connection with the Brazilian community began when I lived in the United States, and it has only grown stronger here in London. Almost 2 years ago, I started working at a beauty clinic in London where the majority of clients are Brazilian
You mentioned working in a beauty clinic. Can you tell us more about this?
I am an Aesthetic Laser Technician and Reiki Therapist by profession However, my true passion has always been writing I enjoy using humour to navigate life's challenges, preferring to turn difficulties into smiles rather than dwell on regrets. I believe in finding reasons to smile, especially because life can often be challenging enough on its own
This is inspiring. When did you start writing?
I wrote my first poem at the age of 12 for Father's Day It won a prize at school, and I was thrilled to see it exhibited at the Amadora City Council in Lisbon When I turned 20 and moved to the United States, I continued writing in my spare time, always infusing my work with a touch of humour
It seems like you had a very active life in the United States. Can you tell us more about your activities there?
Yes, I had several remarkable experiences I love telling jokes and I was the walking comedian of the Portuguese and Brazilian community I also volunteered at the Missionaries of Charity Shelter in Harlem, New York, where we helped homeless women and served meals at the soup kitchen I have always wanted to help those most in need, as I believe that the world should be equal for everyone.
And how was your involvement with writing in the USA?
I wrote poems for the newspaper Luso Americano in Newark. Later on, I began writing a column for My Brazilian News focusing on the Portuguese community I also formed a women's football team and sang in the church choir with the Brazilian and Spanish community for masses in Portuguese and Spanish.
You really had a very rich community life. And what was your experience in leadership positions like?
I was President of the Assembly of the Portuguese Club of Long Branch in New Jersey for 4 years. Later, I became President of the Club, leading a young board. Our goal was always to foster pride in Portugal and the Portuguese language among young people I never lost touch with my roots
You recently received a poetry award. How was this experience?
In October 2023, I received a poetry prize at the Portuguese Consulate in France, where I participated in the 5th Lusophone Collection in Paris It was a transformative experience I met several writers and poets, and everything started to change I owe a lot to the writer Frankelim Amaral and Adélio Amaral
What are your future plans in writing and humour?
I was invited by director Izadora Valadares, from Editora Mágico de Oz from Brazil, to receive the Personality of the Year Award in Porto I also participated in more collections, and one of my last poems was published in the book "Ó Brasil, que falar de ti a Portugal, nestes elos de corrente que nos une". Additionally, I participated in the Tropical Talent Show doing comedy, where I came in third place. I hope this is the beginning of a dream as a stand up comedian
Finally, what is your life motto?
My motto is to spread petals instead of thorns, with laughter and affection. The world is already very bitter, so let's make life easier. A smile that I can offer someone is always a great joy, as it may be the last smile that person will see or give

The models showed cuts for casual, gala and bridal moments And for this event, no other agency could bring models for Georgina's creations. MZ Fashion, whose motto is to mix glamour, refinement and diversity in its staff, was in charge of the catwalk. In addition to different brands, MZ escapes the rule of model stereotypes, both male and female This reaffirms that MZ is different from other agencies.
And to talk more about the event, our reporting team spoke with Mia, CEO of MZ Fashion. Mia told our team that she has been in the fashion world for over 20 years Among so many fashion trends, lots of creation and talent, she reached the 3rd MZ Fashion Today, her modelling agency is required to organise diverse events, and according to her, it's all thanks to her team, which is a first-class team and supports her in everything. She is proud to say that they are with her through everything, both in failure – which never happened – and in success.
“The success happened and today we are in the third edition, with the MZ and Fashion events, which is just us. Of course we are hired, sometimes just the mannequins, as well as the staff, to organise an event, but we don't deal with lights, we don't deal with sounds, we don't deal with logistics. This one is different, we take care of everything, from the first to the last”, highlights Mia.

It also highlights that the entire event is also thanks to André, the right-hand man of the CEO of MZ Fashion “He's in Lisbon, he's in Alentejo, I'm here, but even on the cell phone we're always working, we're very together. From that night onwards, we started working on the sushi chef team at the restaurant ”

Over the years, Mara and Wanderley accumulated experience working in several renowned restaurants in Brazil. However, their true desire to start their own business led them to consider a move to England Despite the uncertainties and challenges, they decided to move forward, bringing their passion for Japanese cuisine with them
"Before we decided to come to Europe, we worked with a great sushi chef friend and partner. It was during this period that our passion for focusing solely on the art of making sushi began to grow. In Brazil, we had other professions; I was a firefighter and Mara also has a degree in canine aesthetics. We ran a Pet Shop and worked in the fire department. Then, we transitioned to working at the Pet Shop during the day and at a restaurant at night. Additionally, we have always been active workers in the church."

In 2016, Mara and Wanderley made the pivotal decision to move forward with their plan to relocate to England They felt strongly that this decision was guided by their faith and a deep-seated desire At the time, their daughter Bruna was just 2 years old They had initiated the citizenship process earlier but had shelved it several times due to various reasons, including fear of leaving their comfort zone and apprehension about facing new challenges. Language barriers and the emotional weight of leaving behind family and friends also weighed heavily on their minds Despite these concerns, they gathered their courage, left Brazil behind, and embarked on a new chapter in their lives
After facing numerous challenges and undergoing a steep learning curve in the United Kingdom, the couple began making sushi for friends after their regular work hours and eventually on weekends Their sushi was well-received, and word-of-mouth spread its popularity "Through God's grace, our reputation grew," they recall. As demand increased, they considered formalising their business, but encountered discouragement from others who found the process daunting and expensive. Lacking knowledge of local laws and regulations added to their uncertainty about how to proceed

Quando criança, Taira foi vítima de abuso sexual infantil por um vizinho de aparência doce Ela conta que esse momento roubou sua inocência e a segurança que toda criança merece. As cicatrizes dessa experiência a acompanharam ao longo da vida, afetando sua autoestima, relacionamentos e a maneira de como via o mundo
Forte e determinada, ela tomou para si uma força que a fez decidir que não seria definida pelos abusos que sofreu “Descobri uma força dentro de mim para enfrentar os desafios e buscar justiça. Enfrentei a vergonha e o medo de falar sobre o que havia acontecido e, encontrei apoio em pessoas que me amavam e cuidavam de mim”, relata
Com o tempo, Taira se tornou uma defensora dos direitos das vítimas de abuso sexual infantil. Compartilhou sua história para ajudar outros a entenderem a gravidade desse problema e como superá-lo. “É preciso falar sobre isso, é preciso combater a violência sexual infantil”, afirma
Com tudo, os fatos que marcaram sua vida a fez ir ainda mais longe Foi aí que Taira passou para o papel em forma de livro, todas as suas angústias e dores.
“Meu livro "Ouçam o meu grito" é fruto dessa jornada de superação, e através dele, busco alcançar mais pessoas dispostas a ajudar nesta causa contra a violência sexual infantil”, expõe. O livro que é baseado nos fatos da vida de Taira, inicia o primeiro capítulo com um parágrafo comparativo, forte e, ao mesmo tempo o levará a relacionar fatos da sua própria vida. Dando base para uma leitura cheia de momentos de reflexão.
“Já disseram uma vez que a pior coisa que pode acontecer a um ser humano é nascer, mas eu nasci. De milhões de espermatozoides eu furei o óvulo da minha mãe e venci, pelo menos a primeira batalha. Eu poderia ter nascido uma princesa num castelo nas arábias, ou numa família especializada a caçar trufas numa floresta da Normandia. Porém não. Nasci em uma pequena cidade de Minas Gerais chamada Ituiutaba. Não acreditando em carma, nasci ali porque tudo é como tem que ser, está tudo certo, ou não, tudo pode ser obra do acaso. “Em fevereiro de 2016, a Vanessa, que é Gestora de Recursos Humanos, identificou uma boa oportunidade para vender os meus bombons na porta de um Colégio Militar no bairro onde morávamos, em Goiânia, Goiás O intuito era custear as passagens para vir para a Inglaterra Nós queríamos viver em outro país e não queríamos mais trabalhar em empregos formais contratados Foi assim que começamos o comércio ambulante de vendas de chocolate, e foi um sucesso”, explica Lorenna.
Eurritmia Magazine: Qual foi a reação dos estudantes ao novo ponto de venda?
"As 'tias dos bombons', como éramos chamadas, se tornaram uma presença esperada Quando não aparecíamos, no dia seguinte, a garotada reclamava que sentia nossa falta. Comprar doces na entrada e na saída da aula se tornou um dos momentos mais esperados pelos alunos Nossa banca virou um ponto de encontro onde conversávamos muito com eles”, destaca Vanessa
Eurritmia Magazine: Como foi a mudança para a Inglaterra e o que aconteceu com o comércio de bombons?
Em maio de 2016, eu e Vanessa nos mudamos para a Inglaterra, deixando o meu irmão de encarregado do comércio. Tudo ia bem até que, em agosto de 2017, devido a problemas de saúde da Vanessa, tivemos que voltar ao Brasil," conta Lorenna
Eurritmia Magazine: Como foi a retomada do negócio no Brasil? "Retomamos nosso comércio ambulante, mas com uma novidade: um segundo ponto de venda nos finais de semana na porta da casa da minha casa," diz Lorenna. "Era na mesma rua da Igreja Católica Nossa Senhora da Assunção, famosa entre os fiéis, incluindo alguns cantores sertanejos como Gustavo Lima e Cristiano Araújo Vender bombons aos domingos à noite foi uma estratégia excelente e aumentou a visibilidade dos nossos produtos”, relembra Vanessa.
Em marco de 2018, a dupla decidiu registar o comércio na categoria de MEI (Micro empreendedor Individual) e, assim surgiu a P S Chocolate O projeto das empresárias era abrir um comércio formal. Uma chocolateira, pois o bairro era muito movimentado devido à Universidade Federal de Goiás e a Igreja. Mas, não aconteceu porque decidiram que em abril de 2019 voltariam a viver na Inglaterra e dar continuidade nesse projeto aqui no Reino Unido
A Escolha do Nome

Aos 18 anos, um marco significativo em sua carreira aconteceu: Miriam venceu um concurso de voz em Luxemburgo, representando Cabo Verde O evento, organizado pela Fundação Infância Feliz (FIF) e presidido pela ex-primeira dama Adélcia Pires, abriu novas portas para a jovem artista O prêmio do concurso, foi os bilhetes de passagem para Portugal, permitindo que ela se mudasse para Portugal. Viveu em Coimbra e Lisboa, sua vontade era estudar canto, mas como não tinha essa possibilidade, seguiu seus estudos em biotecnologia, porém, continuou a desenvolver seu talento musical.

Isabel é uma figura multifacetada, cujo talento se estende desde a arte da comédia até à poesia, onde já recebeu vários prémios pelo seu trabalho. Nesta conversa a Eurritmia Magazine, explora a sua experiência de convivência com a vibrante comunidade brasileira, uma interação que tem enriquecido a sua visão artística e pessoal. Eurritmia Magazine: Isabel, pode nos contar um pouco sobre sua trajetória e como começou sua conexão com a comunidade brasileira?
Isabel Rocha: Sou portuguesa, porém vivo em Londres há 9 anos Minha ligação com a comunidade brasileira começou quando morei nos Estados Unidos, e aqui em Londres essa conexão se intensificou. Há quase 2 anos, comecei a trabalhar numa clínica de estética em Londres, onde a maioria dos clientes são brasileiros
Eurritmia Magazine: Você mencionou trabalhar numa clínica de estética Pode nos contar mais sobre isso?
Isabel Rocha: Sou Técnica de Laser Estético e Terapeuta de Reiki. Mas minha verdadeira paixão sempre foi escrever. Gosto de fazer piadas e prefiro transformar as dificuldades da vida em sorrisos ao invés de lamentos Acho que temos que sorrir, pois a vida já é bastante sombria por si só
Eurritmia Magazine: Isso é inspirador Quando você começou a escrever?
Isabel Rocha: Escrevi meu primeiro poema aos 12 anos para o Dia do Pai Ganhei um prêmio na escola e meu poema foi exibido na Câmara Municipal da Amadora, em Lisboa Aos 20 anos, fui para os Estados Unidos e continuei escrevendo nos meus tempos livres, sempre com um toque de humor
Eurritmia Magazine: Parece que você teve uma vida bastante ativa nos Estados Unidos. Pode nos falar mais sobre suas atividades lá?
Isabel Rocha: Sim, tive várias experiências marcantes Adoro contar anedotas e era a comediante ambulante da comunidade portuguesa e brasileira Também fui voluntária no abrigo Shelter Missionaries of Charity em Harlem, Nova York, onde ajudávamos mulheres sem-teto e servíamos refeições na "Soup Kitchen" Sempre quis ajudar os mais necessitados, pois acredito que o mundo deveria ser igual para todos.
Eurritmia Magazine: E como foi seu envolvimento com a escrita nos EUA?
Isabel Rocha: Escrevi poemas para o jornal Luso Americano em Newark e, mais tarde, uma coluna para o Jornal, My Brazilian News sobre a comunidade portuguesa. Também formei uma equipe de futebol feminino e cantei no coro da igreja com a comunidade brasileira e espanhola para missas em português e espanhol.
Eurritmia Magazine: Você realmente teve uma vida comunitária muito rica E como foi sua experiência em cargos de liderança?
Isabel Rocha: Fui Presidente da Assembleia do Clube Português de Long Branch, em New Jersey, por 4 anos e, depois, Presidente do Clube, com uma diretoria jovem. Nossa intenção sempre foi manter o orgulho de Portugal e a língua portuguesa vivos entre os mais jovens. Nunca perdi minhas raízes
Eurritmia Magazine: Recentemente, você recebeu um prêmio de poesia Como foi essa experiência?
Isabel Rocha: Em outubro de 2023, recebi um prêmio de poesia no Consulado Português em França, onde participei da V Coletânea Lusófona de Paris. Foi uma experiência transformadora, conheci vários escritores e poetas, e tudo começou a mudar Devo muito ao escritor Frankelim Amaral e Adélio Amaral
Eurritmia Magazine: E quais são seus planos futuros na escrita e no humor?
Isabel Rocha: Fui convidada pela diretora Izadora Valadares, da Editora Mágico de Oz do Brasil, para receber o prêmio de Personalidade do Ano, no Porto Também participei de mais coletâneas, e um dos meus últimos poemas foi publicado no livro "Ó Brasil, que falar de ti a Portugal, nestes elos de corrente que nos une" Além disso, participei do Tropical Talent Show fazendo comédia, onde fiquei em terceiro lugar. Espero que seja o começo de um sonho como Stand Up Comedian.
Eurritmia Magazine: Para finalizar, qual é o seu lema de vida?
Isabel Rocha: Meu lema é espalhar pétalas em vez de espinhos, com gargalhadas e carinhos O mundo já vive muito amargurado, então vamos fazer a vida mais leve Um sorriso que eu possa oferecer a alguém é sempre uma grande alegria, pois pode ser o último sorriso que essa pessoa verá ou dará.

Tália, uma talentosa artista, cantora e acordeonista, nascida na Inglaterra e filha de portugueses, tem raízes profundas na música portuguesa, influenciada pelo pai que toca concertina. Sua herança musical e habilidades excepcionais abriram portas importantes, permitindo-lhe se apresentar para a Royal Shakespeare Company em Londres, no The Kings Head Theatre e na televisão para a BBC
Em 2019, Talia foi destaque na RTP Television para o lançamento do seu álbum "Excited". Dois anos depois, em 2021, ela ganhou o prêmio de melhor compositora em um concurso organizado pelo Cat’s Cradle Collective Essa conquista a levou a participar do projeto audiovisual “Das Tripas Coração em Carne e Osso”, comemorando o Dia Mundial da Língua Portuguesa O evento ocorreu na Embaixada de Portugal em Londres, onde Talia compartilhou uma história pessoal sobre sua ligação com a música tradicional que a inspira. Sua composição também foi transmitida na Antena 2, em Portugal
Atualmente, Tália é uma presença constante na cena musical de Londres, atuando em locais como o restaurante português Caravela e em diversos eventos, casamentos e festivais Ela está trabalhando no estúdio em seu segundo álbum, que será lançado este ano.
A trajetória musical de Tália começou cedo "Meu pai é músico e aprendeu a tocar concertina quando era novo Ele sempre tocava para mim e eu adorava cantar ao lado dele," relembra talia Aos sete anos, seu pai a levou a uma loja de acordeões em Londres e a encorajou a aprender a tocar. Aos doze anos, Talia conseguiu seu primeiro trabalho na BBC e, aos treze, participou da peça "Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" com a Royal Shakespeare Company em Londres
Embora tenha começado como acordeonista, Talia descobriu seu talento vocal há seis anos, incentivada por um guitarrista de um duo do qual fazia parte. "Não acredito que a minha voz era o que é hoje quando comecei, mas ao longo dos anos, melhorou muito com prática e experiência," comenta
Seu primeiro álbum, "Excited", foi uma coleção de covers, mas seu próximo trabalho promete ser ainda mais pessoal e envolvente, com músicas originais. "Quero sempre que o meu público sinta a alegria que eu transmito na minha música Gosto de falar de coisas reais e espero que o público goste do meu próximo álbum," diz Talia
O apoio da família é uma constante na vida da artista. "Meu pai é músico, minha mãe adora ouvir música e sabe sempre quando a gente erra! Eurritmia Magazine: Quais foram os principais fatores que a levaram a criar suas empresas?
Percebi que havia uma escassez de bons profissionais nessas áreas e uma alta demanda por serviços de qualidade Apesar de atuar na área desde muito jovem, busquei a orientação de profissionais reconhecidos no Reino Unido, como Kelly Melo (extensão de cílios), Bianca Araújo (nail designer) e Adna Cristina (esmaltação em gel e pedicure), entre outros. Na área de limpeza, tenho quatro anos de experiência e decidi investir tempo e amor nas duas profissões
Eurritmia Magazine: Preferiu criar suas empresas sozinha ou em parceria? E por quê?
Na área da beleza, atuo sozinha há algum tempo, mas futuramente pretendo expandir para atender um maior número de mulheres que buscam práticidade no dia-a-dia
No setor de serviços de limpeza, tenho uma sociedade com meu esposo Nós dois empreendemos em várias áreas de nossas vidas, então decidimos criar nossa empresa juntos, levando comodidade e conforto até a casa dos clientes.
Eurritmia Magazine: Como soube que daria certo?
Sempre soube que daria certo! Tenho uma ética de trabalho e dedicação que hoje em dia é rara de se ver Todos procuram benefícios econômicos, mas vou além disso: faço meu trabalho com muito amor.
Eurritmia Magazine: Você se considera uma empreendedora de alto padrão?
Sem dúvida alguma! Apesar de estar sempre em busca de conhecimento e técnicas que satisfaçam meus clientes, considero-me uma excelente profissional. Embora seja novata em ambos os negócios, estou sempre apta a aprender dia após dia para entregar o melhor trabalho possível.

2ª Edição do Tropical Talent Show Brilha em noite de destaque em Londres
Vários artistas brilharam na Capital Inglesa O POSK Theatre foi palco de um espetáculo vibrante na 2ª edição do Tropical Talent Show, realizada no dia 18 de maio de 2024 O evento celebrou a diversidade multicultural, com 10 talentosos artistas encantando o público com performances de música, dança, comédia e poesia O evento foi idealizado por Vanderli Bello e contou com a coorganização e direção artística de Elizete Reis A apresentação foi conduzida por Silverado e Laura Arruda, que vestiu um vestido exclusivo da estilista Nagela Ferraz da Naffer.
A noite foi marcada por uma diversidade musical impressionante, incluindo interpretações de Elis Regina, música gospel, pop rock, canções francesas, ritmos caboverdianos, sanfona e rap Além disso, o público pôde desfrutar de apresentações especiais de standup comedy e poesia Um dos momentos mais emocionantes foi a performance de Ana Maria Leocádio, uma brasileira de 78 anos, que provou que o talento não tem idade Artistas brasileiros, portugueses e cabo-verdianos de várias partes da Grã-Bretanha participaram do evento. O público também foi presenteado com apresentações de Bradley Barreiros, vencedor do TTS 2023, Nicole Lai, que ficou em 2º lugar no TTS 2023, e a Drag Queen

A abertura do evento foi espetacular, com a arte mímica do Irmão Sombra Leo the Mime, o forró de Anax Caracol, e as energéticas performances do grupo de dança Os Malvadões e da Brazilian Dance School O corpo de jurados, composto por Neto Brazil, Dra Maria Menut e a cantora e compositora Ligia Auter, enfrentou a difícil tarefa de escolher os vencedores da noite
O público participou ativamente, enquanto a mídia cobria o evento, destacando artistas, organizadores, patrocinadores e colaboradores. No comando do palco estavam D'Noite e seu assistente Adriano Borges Os bastidores foram gerenciados por Sara Pereira, enquanto a equipe da Rose Hair Expert Salon e Lisa’s Hair cuidou do cabelo e maquiagem dos artistas.
