Hotel price war great news for tourists A PRICE war means that some tourists heading for Benidorm are having to pay less for their hotel rooms than pensioners on statesubsidised schemes. Some agencies are offering rates for Benidorm hotels at just €19, even lower than the €22 per person per day rate by Imserso, the cheap winter travel scheme aimed at pensioners.
This is good news for tourists looking for a cheap break as hotels have slashed prices to rock bottom, looking to entice customers during the winter. Hotels have to decide whether to take the lower rates to guarantee custom and keep employees busy or to close until the summer. The news comes as the Costa Blanca was being represented at
the World Travel Market in London, which resulted in moderate optimism about demand for the province in 2015. With tour operators wanting to book beds, but without the guarantee of subsequent occupation and therefore payment, hotels are weighing up the risk of committing to operators or selling direct to tourists.
