Fall in property sales in Murcia PROPERTY sales in Murcia fell 35 per cent in February compared to the same month in 2013. The latest sales figures show that 751 properties were sold in the region, compared to 1,169 in February 2013. The number is also down on the start of the year, when 814 were sold in January. Sales fell across the whole of Spain during February, recording a decline of

27.6 per cent. The Canaries were the only region which recorded a rise in activity of 5 per cent. Murcia’s figures may be boosted though, with the arrival of more figures. San Javier airport has announced an increase of almost 40 per cent in March, compared to the number of passengers reported in the previous month.

Lolly stick bridge supports heavy load OVER 1,000 kilos has been supported on a model of a bridge made with ice cream sticks and white glue. The structure was the winner of the XI Stick Bridge Competition, held at the University Miguel Hernandez (UMH) in Elche. Built with 3,300 ice cream sticks and white glue, the winning model was designed by a student of Mechanical Engineering at UMH Pedro Aguilar. His construction ‘Destruction II’ supported 1,136 kilos, with Aguilar spending a month on its design and build.

Against air pollution RESIDENTS of Alicante city have presented a petition with more than 2,000 signatures to the Ombudsman, complaining about air pollution. It protests about pollution produced by the shipment of bulk cargo handled outdoors in the Port of Alicante.
