Bad neighbours THREE men have been arrested for allegedly throwing a petrol bomb at their neighbour’s house in Palma. They claimed they did so as a punishment for their neighbour lodging several complaints against them.

Lions spectacles hit new heights

THE Torrevieja Costa Lions Club passed another milestone this week when its President Janette Bennett delivered more than 1,000 pairs of used spectacles to the Centro de Reciclaje de Gafas ‘Melvin Jones’ in San Vicente del Raspeig, Alicante. Emilio Moreno, the centre’s director, was delighted to receive the donation which brings the total provided by Torrevieja Lions to over 9,000 pairs in six years. This achievement is outstanding for the club and has been achieved with great support from the customers and staff of Specsavers in Torrevieja. The Lions have also agreed a collaboration with Francisco Jurado, Director of Specsavers in Guardamar del Segura. Nationally, Specsavers have launched an initiative in all their Spanish stores to collect used spectacles to donate to their local Lions Clubs for onward delivery to the recycling centre. The used spectacles are cleaned, graded and reframed at the recycling centre where they are then held awaiting orders from all round the world where eye care is not readily available. All donations are welcome.
