Pe valea Răcătăului, se află comuna Horgești, în care sunt trei biserici (două ortodoxe şi una catolică): „Sfinţii Voievozi Mihail şi Gavril”, din lemn, „Sfinţii Împăraţi Constantin şi Elena”, din cărămidă, în centrul satului, şi „Adormirea Maicii Domnului”, din zid, sfinţită în anul 2008. Biserica de lemn, făcută din lemn de stejar pe temelie de piatră cioplită, se numără printre monumentele de patrimoniu şi impresionează prin forma construcţiei şi prin iconostasul din interior. A fost construită în anii 1886-1889 de către Profira Strat împreună cu fiul ei George şi a fost sfinţită la 2 iulie 1889. Reţine atenţia tehnica de îmbinare a bârnelor, o tehnică întâlnită mai ales în Transilvania.
The commune of Horgeşti is located along the valley of the Răcătău brook. It is renowned for its three churches (two Orthodox ones and a RomanCatholic church): the “Sts Michael and Gabriel” Wooden Church, the “Sts Constantine and Helena” Church, made of brick, erected in the centre of the commune, and the “Dormition of the Mother of God” Church, made of stone, consecrated in 2008. The wooden church, made of oak wood and erected on chiseled stone, is a heritage monument and it is impressive due to its shape and interior iconostasis. It was built by Profira Strat and her son, George, from 1886 to 1889, and was consecrated on the 2nd of July 1889. The technique of beam joining, specific to the region of Transylvania, is worth mentioning.
