How to Adjust Audio and Video Tracks in Final Cut Pro

Tracks are audio and video layers in the Timeline that contain the audio or video clips in a sequence. Audio and Video clips are generally linked in the Timeline. A clip must be unlinked to edit either its video or audio track: 1.

First select the clip in the sequence on the Timeline.

2. Go to the EDIT menu and uncheck Linked Selection. To adjust a track, choose one of the following three methods: Editing in the Viewer, Slicing Clips Using the Razor Blade, and Trimming.

Editing in the Viewer 1. Choose the Selection tool and select the Track. 2. Double click the Track so that it will open in the Viewer. 3. Use the Mark In and Mark Out points to change the Track.

4. To re-link a clip, select the Audio and Video Track and check Linked Selection in the EDIT menu.

Slicing Clips Using the Razor Blade 1.

Select the Track. Then select the Razor Balde tool.

Slice the Track with the Razor Blade tool.

3. Choose the Selection tool and select the “sliced track�. Then do one of the following: * Click and drag the Track to another area within the Sequence. * Drag the Track to the Browser window for later use.

* Remove the Track by pressing the Delete key. 4. To re-link a clip, select the Audio and Video Track and check Linked Selection in the EDIT menu.

Trimming 1.

Choose the Selection tool.

In the Timeline, hover the mouse over the beginning or end of a Track .

Adjust the Track by dragging the In or Out point to the desired location within the Sequence.

4. To re-link a clip, select the Audio and Video Track and check Linked Selection in the EDIT menu.
