All about Paul Auster

“Feral Children” Feral children   are   known   as   very   young   people   or   even   babies   that   have   recently   been   born   that   are   kept   in   a   dark   room   without   human   interac'on.   Usually,   they   are  kept  isolated  from  the  society  and  they   have   the   study   and   the   communica'on   denied  by  their  own  parents.  In  fact,  these   children   never   learn   how   to   talk,   how   to   walk  or  even  how  to  use  the  toilet  because   they  are  never  released  from  the  dark  room   where   they   are   kept.   Also,   animals   can   take   babies   away   so   that   they   can   replace   their   cubs,  which  are  rare  cases,  but  it  happens.         This  is  a  difficult  case  to  resolve  or  to  even   try  to  fix  because  you  can  never  know  when   a   parent   has   a   child   locked   up   in   a   basement   since   he   is   hidden   from   the   society.   Maybe,   these   children   can   be   helped   aGer   being   recued   by   this   horrible   situa'on;   they   can   be   sent   to   a   special

therapy so   that   they   can   learn   how   to   learn   and   work   but   that’s   the   only   way   they   can   improve  in  what  they  have  leG  behind.    To  give  an  example  on  animals  there  is  this   girl   named   Oxana   Malaya,   born   in   November  1983.  She  had  alcoholic  parents   that  never  took  care  of  her  and  around  her   house  lived  many  dogs  so  she  lived  in  a  dog   shelter  where  they  care  for  her,  and  so,  she   got   the   abili'es   to   moan   like   a   dog   and   behave   like   a   dog.   BoPom   line,   she   was   8   years   old   when   she   was   found   in   Ukraine   (1991)  with  all  this  dog  skills.

In the   book   City   of   Glass,   there   is   a   feral   child   too,   named   Peter   S'llman   who   was   kept   in   the   dark   by   his   own   father   and   he   never   got   the   abili'es   to   interact   with   people   un'l   he   was   older.   Also,   when   he   was   mostly   recovered   he   met   a   woman   named   Virginia   and   married   her.   This   is   a   clear   example   of   a   feral   child   who   can   recover  from  his  terrible  past,  but  they  will   never  forget  the  mistreatment  they  got.
